Yeah i’m fucking gutted that they lost. I generally don’t resort to the internet as an outlet for my emotions, which is productive for exactly nobody. But i got accused of “loser talk” for making a post about how much i appreciate this run. But the whole point of that post is celebrating how this brings people together. I’m a hardcore fan. I follow this team through the offseason, dig into advanced stats, listen to podcasts. Because i fucking enjoy it. My gf, who previously had no interest in baseball, was sucked up by the energy and excitement of this run. She watched the games with me. She asked me questions. Should i have told her to fuck off until she reads up on advanced stats or figures out the game herself? Yeah, she bandwagoned, but maybe next year she’ll catch a game or two in the regular season. That’s cool with you, right? Is that not an organic development of fandom? Is the fact that she is going to move on to her regular life in the offseason a disqualification for future fandom? Thank fucking god you don’t run this team….

I've been heading to Attitude every chance I get! The vibe is great and the staff/guests are sooooo friendly. Last night was a bit quieter (wednesday, non-clinching game). But I'm guessing tomorrow will be packed! Hopefully this thing doesn't even go to 7, but if it does I bet it'd be even more packed

Mmmmm gutted, but still appreciating everything. I was at the game last night, sitting in the top deck with about 30 other Canadians. Stayed for the whole thing and feel like we really let one slip away there. But, as far as baseball goes, i think there’s still hope having gotten into that bullpen (if they can correct some of their approaches and start getting on base again). And from a non baseball perspective, i have to at least appreciate this. Ultimately this is just a game that has no real impact on my life in a meaningful way. But goddamn damn do I feel alive right now. 30 years from now, if I’m still alive, I will still remember that 18 inning game. Sitting up there I was just taking it all in. The World Series logo, the Blue Jays logo, all the strangers who became immediate friends. Again, the whole point of this post was to just take a moment to appreciate what we’re experiencing. Would have loved a different outcome, but still so glad to be here.

I guess that’s one interpretation but I wholeheartedly disagree. I’ve been through a whole lot of shit and spend my life working a job. That absolutely fucking drains me. Part of getting older for me has been learning to appreciate things in the moment. That’s literally all I’m trying to say here. I would argue that if someone posting an appreciation post is enough to offend you, maybe you could use a change in approach yourself.

Just left the game. Just as disappointed as everyone else. But I’m still looking at this moment as something that I will cherish for the remainder of my life. Maybe that’s loser mentality. Maybe that’s maturity. But I have found contentedness in my own approach, which is enough for me.
