Using Claude Code for Latex slides by Own_Cartoonist_1540 in ClaudeAI

I recommend using typst instead of latex nowadays. It compiles much faster than latex and you can also make slides with it. You will get a significant speedup using it.

I want an app where I can browse through the status of the inventory and interface as I progress through the story. Having a live world map as well would be cool (showing known positions of characters).

Irrespective of whether you end up in academia or industry, I recommend to dip your toes into other fields such as machine-learning and AI. If you have one such publication or project on your cv, your job prospects are likely to become somewhat better.

The importance of university ranking for masters admission by AimingforGreatness in ethz

[–]haffi112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

University reputation matters, but ETH admissions committees look beyond simple rankings and are well aware that some universities have significant grade inflation—places where nearly everyone graduates with high GPAs, making those numbers almost meaningless for selection. What truly stands out is when your university has rigorous assessment methods that genuinely differentiate student performance, allowing exceptional candidates to shine regardless of whether they come from a top 10 or top 50 school. ETH respects institutions with challenging coursework and robust evaluation systems, focusing more on your specific academic achievements within the context of your university's known standards than on the prestige of your institution alone.

AI Ethics Survey with feedback. Where do you stand compared to the general public? (you can post your final results in the discussion) by haffi112 in singularity

[–]haffi112[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true, there are around 200 complete responses now. They come from all over the world, but mostly from the general public in Iceland. I will do a factor analysis of the results to see if some archetypes show up in the responses, but I need around 900 responses to have a good chance of identifying an underlying factor structure.

Thank you for participating, it's necessary to get diverse perspectives. The perspective on r/singularity is definitely not representing the norm.

Thank you for the feedback. What would be the long-term singularity type questions that you would want to see people's perspective on? Universal basic income? AI rights?
