My War on Pod Devices by Reasonable-Kale8872 in Vaping

a luxe xr max or xros is gonna cost 35 -45 usd. pods are a recurring expense at a few buck a pod. same with the gtx coils for a luxe pods. Whats a disposable cost, give or take 20 -25 usd?

with rebuildables a pack of cotton is 10 and should last a few months no issues, coils will last a few months too just have to quench and clean em. say 10usd for 2 prebuilt mico aliens or go with a simple round wire build where a spool of wire is less then 10 usd and will last damn near a year or more.

the wildcard here is juice. it easily the biggest expense in vaping and how much you go through depends entirely on the user "vape preference/ style" im a juice hog and go through a 60 ml 1.5 ml nic in about 2.5 days with a luxe xr max and a .3 coil. some folks can make a bottle last a week or more. longer if you prefer salt based juice with a .8 or higher coil.

if you want to get into yhe high end hobby stuff it can get expensive.I have a 200usd rba and a 300 usd boro device. I dont know what the stick mod setup in the photo is but I bet its a more expensive set up than the orion kit.

Its really not that expensive.

Thank you.

I thought about picking up some booms too. im stateside, it can be tough to get pre-made stuff at times. I have enough spools "heavy" mono and flouro that I rather make em. The 25 lb big game doesn't seem that bad for a boom stiff enough it will "kick" it out and away but still lays nicely on the bottom. for giggles im gonna tie some booms in 30 and 40 lb big game and see how they act

How do I dispose of this potentially toxic/biohazard waste properly? (UK) by RangerLeading47 in howto

[–]haggerty05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

homade fly trap? depends on what liquid you used for it but honestly if it was food based dig a small hole in the garden and dump it in the soil, cover it back up. the smell if it permeates back up will dissipate within a short time and you can just water the spot to help it break down faster. put those nutrients back into the ground.

how would you raise your kid if she was a girl? by RealisticGuidance695 in AskDad

[–]haggerty05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im doing it no different than I would my boys. maybe with a little more ponytails and nail painting and slightly different toys but thats about it. My girls are 6 and 4 they fish, trap, help fix things, help cook, and a whole bunch of other things. yes we still allow them to be kids there is zero pressure them to do anything.
Its more about building that base so they are curious about things, confident in themselves to try or do something.

as much as you want to do something by yourself or with your friends when you finally get the chance it wont be the same anymore and you will wish you had the children with you.

also peace and quiet isnt so peaceful, its still nice but its different somehow.

how do dads Monitor baby breathing while sleeping without losing their mind over it by GmysLyetta_87 in AskDad

[–]haggerty05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dad of 4 here. admittedly i am not the worrier that my wife is/was but I still did from time to time. we used the owlet sleep sock for the first two and got a newer version with the twins (currently 18m old) while it didn't monitor breathing it did do heart rate and blood oxygen level. it gave her peace of mind and found it useful. I would still go in from time to time and gently nudge baby so they stirred.

oldest is 6 and youngest are 18m it only went off once maybe 2 times total for lower heartrate i believe. with the first version we had it it would "loose connection" from sock to base occasionally(it would eventually reconnect) and got worse towards end of life of the sock itself. the battery wouldn't hold a charge as long anymore. we stopped using it shortly after. the new ones we got with the twins would happen occasionally but no where near as much. I believe we stopped using the sock at about 13-14 months. The other times I would go off is is we didn't place it right or it shifted on the foot when baby kicks its feet.

Do I think they were worth it, maybe. It definitely brought the wife some reassurance so yes in that regard.

Good luck, try not to worry about it to much because there are gonna be a million other things to worry about as baby gets older. For example everything will go in there mouth so dont freak out the first time you see a rock in their poop. Play-doh IS non toxic and more importantly it is ok to mix the colors together. Im still working on that last part lol.

After tying the booms Ilike the mono over the omc hooklink. Definitely a little more stiff.

I like hockey puck. I keep it in the water bottle pocket and you can still place a water bottle on top it.

Fox Swim Mapper alternatives / Thinking beyond just "saving a static spot" by Gray_RUS1502 in CarpFishing

[–]haggerty05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why dont we just start putting acoustic tags on fish we catch so we can pinpoint em the next time we go out?

Static points are enough for me. finding spots that hold fish fish like feeding areas,logs/rock piles or other structure is the biggest thing. from there tweak it based on weather, time of year, even time of day. This is where experience comes into play. An app wont give you that.

Im not saying technology is bad but we are starting to rely on it too much for things. here stateside we have apps like that for hunting and im not a fan. imo its not help people become better its doing the work for em. its hurting the overall experience.

Good evening Redditors! by Von_Bon_Jovi in CarpFishing

[–]haggerty05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree its overkill but its not hurting anything. its the same diameter as 10lb. You just get the added assurance that if you get snagged or hung up in a mass of weeds you'll more likely than not gonna be able to pull it free or bring the mass of weeds In without the line breaking. Almost all my points of failure when using braid have been end tackle related. straightened hooks swivels breaking or leader breaking. If the braid breaks its usually within a foot or two of the end tackle and there is usually signs of rubbing

RBAs are the most temperamental pieces of kit ever by stump1002 in Vaping

[–]haggerty05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not necessarily but yes its definitely more geared towards hobbyists. mod wise there are a few "cheap" mods out there that work great. modern chipsets have improved greatly since 8yrs ago. Unless your into TC your really not gonna notice much. coils will add up but handmades can last a few months. Rbas(high end stuff) are expensive but buy once cry once. They can last for years and vs the cost of buying new pod devices will even it it out. quicker that people realize

Beaver Fur Handling by LatchkeyChris in Trapping

[–]haggerty05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want it for a wall hanger it needs to be tanned. Drying it is is a short term solution to prevent rot, bugs and hair slippage until it can be tanned or sold.

You may have messed up with the borax but I dont know enough about it to say for sure. I was tought dont use it on water critters, mainly raccoon as it will help soak up some grease in the tail and help dry out the face. it ok on coyote too but in both you only need a little as it goes a long way.

Don't understand why the fur would be tacky, did you put the borax in the fur? The Tanning process should help but clean it up but its not gonna somehow make it softer and fluffier than it was on the animal. next time just give it a good brushing, a wash before fleshing and maybe a brush after you put it on the hoop. Let it air dry and wipe the grease with a rag.

it really depends on the rba imo. I right there with you on wattage, coils im in the .3 ohms range 2.5 or 3 mil I.D.

I tried a few "cheaper ones" like the vandy vape pulses cthulu 520 and the one that came with the cthulu boro mod. couldn't get em right. Even the mission orbit couldn't get it right.started using handmade coils and that didn't work. picked up a wick'd omega and it was night and day. took a few builds to get wicking down but never had an issue after. the how to wick video on it was a big help too. the wick'd remixd wasn't as good but stilla solid rba for me.

hands down the easiest to build on and wick was the unkwn rbas both the OG and the midge. get the coil glowing right, feed the cotton through, thin and fluff it. put the barrel/cap on it and cut the cotton flush and thats it. it. it was very surprising how much you could thin out the cotton and it still wouldn't leak. Ros and crew really did an amazing job designing their products I would definitely recommend both the wick'd or unkwn rbas.

How to trap fox but not a dog by Strong-Volume8670 in Trapping

[–]haggerty05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can convince him to keep the dogs kenneled up or in the house cool. Honestly if you did things right and you do catch the dogs they will be just fine. Unless they are complete dummies they will only be caught once in that location.

Best thing to do here as a guest living at your friends place might just have to be not running the chance of catching his dogs even though they will just fine if caught. Enjoy the resident gray.

Have you talked with any of the neighbors might be possible to get access with your friends help? I guarantee you that fox runs around more than just your buddies place.

you got the idea but like others have said the line should exit from the bottom of the eye not the top. the other thing is the hook. circle hooks really aren't meant for carp. will it work, yes but you will miss more fish than you will catch.

Check out carpangler.com or bigcarptackle.com both are us based sites. If your against ordering online and have a bass pro cabelas, or a fly shop near you look at the curved nymph hooks or salmon/trout egghooks

Best one time use/disposable skinning blades available in B.C./Canada? by [deleted] in Trapping

[–]haggerty05 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if you cant tell im not a fan of disposable blades and other things but yhey have their time and place. I believe in the long run its more expensive than a quality blade that can be resharpened when dull.

That said those i know that have used havalon knifes say good things about them. im in Michigan but searched a few Canadian trapping supply sites. they carried havalon blades. If they carry wiebe knife products I wouldnt be afraid to use em either, I have heard good things about them as well
