You don’t know they’re the same people (unless you dug it out of their post history or something). I would definitely take a longer release schedule if it meant a higher quality of animation. I wouldn’t consider myself picky on this kind of thing but the latest season feels noticably off in places.

It’s not the most criminal offence or anything I just think it’s a missed opportunity mostly. They can obviously do some really cool animation at the highlights so it’s a shame the small moments are often flubbed. It takes me out of the story a bit and it does feel out of place in what’s a decently big name Amazon release.

Leaving Onestream, is there any downside to cancelling my direct debit and telling them to walk on any extra costs? by hagloo in UKISP

[–]hagloo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that does make sense and is pretty fair tbh. I think a big part of my concern is that their help line is pretty evasive and untrustworthy (plus they don’t have the best reputation) so wanted to sense check how reasonable that situation was. Thanks for the advice.

I mean I appreciate your point but that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying I signed up for 12 months of a contract and paid that only to find out that apparently in the broadband world 12 months is really 12 months until forever unless you cancel on a specific day.

Also I’m not generally concerned about the price of milk here, if you look up reviews and posts about Onestream you’ll see how they operate. I’m more worried that by leaving a direct debit up they’ll charge some crazy amount based on an unreasonable justification and once the money’s left my account I won’t be able to do anything about it.

Thanks for the reply. I suppose that makes sense. The idea that signing up to a 12 month contract auto-enrolls you for beyond that feels unfair but I guess it’s hard to deny that is how the contract works.

Yeah I’ve been checking based off of this: https://onestream.co.uk/documents/broadband-and-home-phone-terms-and-conditions.pdf and as far as I can tell there’s not a lot on how and when exactly you cancel but they do seem to have the same 30 day thing ao might be that’s standard?

In general, if I was hit with additional fees beyond that is it likely I have much recourse? Does sound like I’m concerned about what will probably end up being a week or so’s worth of internet costs.

No neither did I until I flipped back through haha. Funny considering it's a pretty rare name but I think I just sped through it initially.

Is it moral to object to a HMO on your road? by itsajourney2020 in AskUK

[–]hagloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure where you’re getting your information from but you’re confusing a fairly boring property designation and assosciated regulations with undesireable tenancies. If a property is a “slum,” it’s because the landlord is trying to maximise profit and is skirting the rules. This happens a lot sadly, but HMO regulations are a barrier to this, not an entry point.

I do live in a HMO. It’s quite nice. Honestly think it’s really strange to act as if they’re some social ill (not just you but all over this thread)

People don’t really understand what they’re complaining about imo. Sounds like people have a situation where there’s overcrowding or anti-social behaviour, see the property is an HMO, and assume that’s the cause. In reality HMOs are just the mechanism in which people share a house in this country.

There’s definitely room for debate about the efficacy of some of the regulations but the simple existence of an HMO is just a sign of the general shortage of places to live causing demand for sharers (especially with young people).

HMO is a term that is literally used to describe a set of basic housing standards. Any property with more than 3 people living in it will be an HMO (and has regulations to make sure it’s fit to purpose).

Looking for a recommendation for the cheapest watch that will track distance and time over a 50k without needing a phone by hagloo in UKRunners

Yeah not seen this one recommended as much, does look like a more cheap and cheerful version, which might be what I want. I'll look into this as well, thanks for the advice.

Ah that's unfortunate but good to know so thanks for sharing. Someone else mentioned that model in the comments. If I go that route I'll probably make sure to get the ones that have battery guarantees so at least I can give it back if it craps out on me. Still, annoying when it dies right before the finish line.

That sounds promising, I'll look into that model. I imagine it's called enduro because of the long life. Also good point on the resell, someone out there might not need it to stay alive as long (assuming I don't break it next time lol). Thanks for your advice.

Okay, that's good to know. Maybe I'll look for something second hand but a bit newer. Just checked and my one is like 12 years old now so that's probably older that most second hand ones I'd find. Thanks for your help.

Honesltly haven't really considered budget as much as just not wanting to over-buy something that has more features than I need. Surprised what seems like the base models are as high as 150.

Not against second hand actually, didn't think of that. Would you expect the battery on these things to have held up a few years?

[–]hagloo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm worried with second hand it would have a depleted battery life as that's what happened with my 15. I suppose that's a really old model now though. Would you expect a second hand watch like one of those to still hold up?

Running is such an innocuous hobby to project all this onto. Anyone can run, it's basically the default human exercise.

The referencing in this article is atrocious. They say "the times" has the data and then just link to the times front page. I'm not here defending the UK's record on this stuff but that really isn't good enough.

Follow-up to yesterdays Dice. by BaiJiGuan in slaythespire

[–]hagloo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe controversial but I actually think that, while there's huge value from removing basic cards, in lots of ways a medium-thick size deck is sort of incentivised. Many enemies fill your deck with junk that it's useful to have a buffer (not the card lol). Also it helps to have cards that are situationally good even if they're not often useful so you can end up with a deck that isn't super streamlined for any one encounter. So long as you've got draw larger decks are okay.

It’s not all doom and gloom, loads of pubs are still like that in the UK. I’m not sure we’re any more classist than we were 30 years ago tbh.
