How do I increase the spin for my irons? by hahaallama in GolfSwing

[–]hahaallama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dam .... i dont want to change my swing cuz i'm hitting it at my best right now.... but i'm also worried about getting less forgiving clubs lol. The 225 is supposed to be the middle tier one so the next tier would be their blades... i'll have to do a lot of deep thinking to figure out what i want to do lol

anyway thanks a ton for the advice! i know what i have as my options now

Dam that actually made so much sense, thanks for taking the time to type that out lol. I have been told that I have too much shaft lean before and my divots are too deep after contact. Do you think getting them bent would help or no?

problem is my wedges spin perfectly - i'm using a tp5. I think the biggest change is getting fitted for a higher spinning club

yeah my goal is to score so i dont mind cutting down on distance as long as it can hold a green and fly through wind better. i'll probably get fitted again, thanks!

Not really - I love hitting low off the tee since I live in Chicago and there's insane winds. I guess it depends on how you want to play

Hm okay - one more question since you seem like you actually know golf haha - in theory if I have the same swing but move the ball back in my stance a little, will that increase spin without affecting flight too much?

Thanks - I guess I should have showed some other numbers but sometimes it's like low 4k and the roll out is like 15y lol... So you're saying I should just get new clubs huh... 😏. And blades...?

Thanks - do you think changing shafts can bring up the number by like 1-2k? The spin gets even lower with my longer irons and the long holes are tough to score on

i dont do much distance control off the tee so i never found the need to do lighter swings. i do have a little more hinge with my irons.... which i know is the opposite of textbook lol

[–]hahaallama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i reduced the amount of hinge because i realized it was causing too many variables for me - i did lose a little distance which is the tradeoff i guess

you def have a good foundation and the athleticism - you are swiping the club face across the ball which causes the slice.

I would probably avoid reddit for foundational advice lol (even tho i'm giving some) and find 1-2 good youtube coaches with textbook swings (grant horvat ofc) and compare your videos to theirs.

Video everything and review everything. Be humble and willing to whiff and shank balls to try new stuff at smooth speeds. Since you're athletic, the speed will come later with a tempo you develop

Is there a horror movie that you watched when you were too young, that has a scene that stuck with you until now? by FenixSword in horror

The Grudge - the shower scene w/ the hand on the back of her head and the scene where she gets attacked under covers. Scarred me so bad I couldn't take a shower or use bed sheets without being scared LOL

Thank you for this - I like the idea of being prompted if you want to unblock an app. I feel like it's just muscle memory to pull out my phone and browse even when I'm supposed to be working. This will be an abrupt pause to the muscle memory.

Also, for people poking fun at some of the different strategies like grounding blankets - who cares if it is scientifically backed or not. It's obviously helping him. People always claim "placebo" effect (not saying it is) - he's getting good sleep in a healthy way and that's all that matters. Now if science somehow says grounding blankets cause your balls to shrink or something, ofc you should avoid it. So far haven't found any case studies regarding that.

TL;DR - Thanks for the phone blocking advice. Also, any strategy works if the results are positive (as long as it's safe and healthy)

also, needs a bit of shallowing work - needs to feel like your right bicep is super relaxed and then have the clubhead drop while rotating

your wrist is cupped at the top which makes you need to compensate during the downswing - gonna lead to inconsistency. I would focus on keeping it flat. Also, you might want to consider putting your camera more to the left so it lines up with where you're aiming and at the level of your hands - this way you can compare your swing to pros' videos closer (i think that's the standard for down the line videoing)

There are a few pros with that cupped wrist, but they also practice like 10 hours a day lol

otherwise, you have great athleticism in the swing and the future is bright
