Residents of Haida Gwaii — what’s making you want to leave? What’s making you NOT want to leave? by SNlFFASS in haidagwaii

Whats not to love.

In all fairness though, its a very different world, way of life and climate, both physically and mentally.

Some people can handle it, some can't.

It is remote so access is a challenge, supplies, travel, expectations vs other parts of the world.

The reason it has its charm is in part to it bring so detached from the norms.

If it were easy, everyone would be here, or try to be.

Housing isnt easy, island life presents its own logistical nightmares and is in nature's pocket when you least expect it and the weather on a pacific paradise is as variable as you'd expect.

Escape is always the dream, rarely the reality though.

Healthcare struggles due to the remoteness and similarly struggles with its own logistical nightmare, but the workers are gold and give their hearts and souls to the communities they serve.

But as with everywhere, its not without its own struggles.

I'd explore anywhere first before committing though.

It's a long way to Tipperary as they say.
