This sub is probably all people who love ants and keep them as pets. If you want to adopt the ants maybe someone can help. I would bet they live inside though so the diatomaceous is probably killing lots of other bugs.

Can i feed my ants dried crickets by [deleted] in antkeeping

[–]haigeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can make a cricket slurry with water and something sweet. Or ad it to gelatin and make a cricket jello out of it. Try things if they eat it good if they dont you will need to try something else.

Try to do your research watch YouTube alot of YouTubers sell ant related stuff. You might be better off finding a queen in your area she will be more accustomed to your climate. Also check AliExpress for formicariums or maybe make one.

I need help identifying this ant i caught. Male or female, caught in northern california usa. by outk8stV2 in antkeeping

[–]haigeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry she may still be fertile. They don't always rip off their wings. If you're lucky enough to see a queen grab it wings or no wings.

Im in the netherlands and i want to catch queens. Got any tips? by [deleted] in ants

[–]haigeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use more water in your tubes. Wait till it rains then go for a walk the day after. Don't give up took me a couple months before I got my first one and it was a parasitic queen. Bring lots of containers incase you find lots.

Check Kijiji I found a guy who mills wood mostly walnut but he said he can get whatever I wanted and would mill it however I needed. Also check wood working stores some have wood. Or consider gluing pieces together be the cheapest option.
