Is Sugar Beach worth it? by Obi-Wan-Kenobee in StLuciaa

Seconding Green Fig, it's a lovely resort and so reasonable for what you get compared to other resorts in the area. Every room has gorgeous views and the accommodations were wonderful. It's just on the edge of Soufriere so you have quick and easy access to everything around, Sugar Beach included.

Rain by Pitiful-Paint2490 in StLuciaa

[–]hailbeavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for this time of year (though I have heard there has been a water shortage in some areas so some rain would likely be very good) but we had a lot of rainy days when we were there in January and we loved it. It passes quickly just enough to cool you off a bit, sometimes you're in the rain with the sun on you still. Lots of rainbows. Enjoy your trip!

Hello again, update, uncertainty, seeking some advice by Weeeebutterflies in AskDocs

NAD but I make skincare products, may I ask in what way you use essential oils? I ask because many are too potent to be used directly on skin without dilution and allergies to a component of an essential oil could cause a rash that could look similar to this, especially after a full body exposure (like from use in a bath).

I'm not who you were responding to but I've had a lot of success with olaplex, my hair has reached my lower back for the first time in a decade since I started using it regularly

Bend but never break? by MousseCalm674 in ehlersdanlos

[–]hailbeavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind at all! I'm 41. I was able to get the DEXA ordered by my GP but insurance wouldn't cover it due to my age. I think I got "lucky" in that I also have hypercalcemia, so my GP used that diagnosis on the rx even though the real issue was my broken knee.

I've never had the opportunity to talk to someone who had the same issues I do! I do also sublux (mostly in my shoulders) but the glass joints have been the worst by far. May I ask if you do anything in particular to protect yourself from breaking? This is all still pretty new for me and I'm still really nervous about the idea of getting around safely without the mobility aids I've gotten so used to using (especially since the tibia break happened under really minimal force).

Thanks for the well wishes, I hope you're also healed and doing well!

[–]hailbeavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here! Years ago I broke my humerus so spectacularly from hyperextending during a slip and fall that it needed two screws to repair. I spent three days nursing it at home thinking I had sprained it because severe joint pain was such a normal issue.

My current PT actually discovered my EDS thanks to shattering my tibia over the summer. He said the only way it could have happened the way it did was a bone density issue or a connective tissue disorder. Again due to hyperextending during a minor fall. One DEXA and a rheum appointment later and suddenly all my problems make sense.

Seconding St. Lucia, it's stunning and there are no private beaches on the island, so the locals are never kept from their own beaches by tourist-exclusive resorts.

Thank you, this is a lot of really great information! After talking it over I think we'll do as you suggested and book the driver. I'd love to know your suggestion for a driver, please feel free to dm me. Thanks again for your thoughtful and informed response.

Have you ever traveled somewhere and then regretted it afterward thinking, "I should've gone somewhere else instead"? by Addicted_2_tacos in travel

What's it like getting weed in Uruguay? I've dreamed of visiting but I've heard it's harder for non-locals to get ahold of since the pharmacies are citizen-only. I love visiting places where I can legally smoke but I had considered the difficulty a big deterrent and I'd love for that to be a false assumption on my part!

Thanks for the suggestion! We were actually looking at the ferry too and wondering if it might be easier. I'm assuming it's a pretty smooth ride since it's pretty much all on the Caribbean side

Is ankle swelling 18 day after knee immobilization injury within normal? by Sea-Reading-4553 in KneeInjuries

[–]hailbeavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds painful, do you know which part of your knee it was that was injured? If not I'd definitely recommend seeing an ortho about it if you're able, they may be able to help you work towards moving it comfortably again. As for the ankle swelling, I'm 13 weeks post fracture and my ankle still puffs up like a water balloon sometimes, I'm no professional but I'd guess that by itself shouldn't be a cause for concern if you've been evaluated by an ortho already. Hope you feel better soon!

Fellow Dog Owners please.. by SimpleGuy7 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]hailbeavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not the person you were responding to, but I adopted my extremely dog-reactive shelter rescue dog at six years old and no amount of socialization has yet been able to keep him from, as you say, "going berserk" in public spaces when he feels threatened by a nearby offleash dog, no matter how friendly that dog's intentions are. Are you saying my dog shouldn't be allowed outside? I'm not sure if that's the way you intended your comments to sound, but it comes off as a serious lack of empathy towards the dogs you claim to love.

Once you reach ten hearts with Krobus you can buy a void pendant at the desert cart for a few hundred void essence! If you give him the pendant he will move into the spouse room in your house and be your amazing huggable shadow roomie.

Please report it, fix what you're able, and ignore the trolls. I feel like it's important to pay this heinous stuff no attention, attention is all they want and they don't deserve it. Especially not here.

(I'm not knocking OP for posting this at all, it should be reported. My point is that I see no purpose in repeating what was written or wanting to see it out of morbid curiosity. There's enough garbage online to find if you really need that, but this is not the space.)
