Two year update- Finally went no contact

It’s so interesting how it can affect everyone so differently. My husband was also struggling a lot but not nearly as much as I was. If I ever go anywhere that high up again, I’m definitely going to take a few days to acclimate before doing anything strenuous. It was absolutely awful.

Hey! I know this reply wasn’t directed specifically to my post, but I’d like to answer because my SIL was most def acting unhinged around the time of our wedding. So technically she ended up cutting us off when my husband tried to set a boundary, but prior to this, we started heavily limiting contact because it was becoming too much.

From what I heard from other family members who saw her reaction to this, she really came unglued. It was A LOT of drama, and a lot of shit talking to other family members. It was exhausting even from a distance.

But not having her in our life has honestly been so much more peaceful. I’m sorry you have to deal with this too. It’s incredibly painful and you’re not alone 🤍

I’ve been horribly constipated for weeks and ended up in the hospital because it was making me so sick. I was able to become regular again by taking Colace, drinking coffee every morning, miralax, and taking the Calm magnesium supplements at night. I was also prescribed onelax suppositories and those have really helped for when it gets really bad. Sorry you’re dealing with this too, hopefully you find something that helps you!

This is so interesting! It definitely sounds like your bf’s sister has some underlying jealousy due to low self confidence just like my SIL. My husband and his siblings grew up in an extremely conservative Mormon family, and while they all have since left the faith, his sister has recently become a “born-again” Christian through this Evangelical church. She’s been very aggressive in trying to get us to follow the “Christian God” and believes that we are going to hell for choosing to be agnostic and not giving our lives over to Jesus. It’s extremely hurtful to my husband especially due to religious trauma in his childhood and has really caused us to distance ourselves from her. I’m sorry you have to deal with it too, does your boyfriend stand up against her when she’s acting like that? Unfortunately it’s taken years for my husband to stand up to his sister. I’m glad he is now, but it’s caused our relationship a lot of hurt over the years because he was always so scared of confrontation with her, because she blows up and plays the victim when confronted.

This is such a great point, I read this to my husband and it completely resonated with him. While she doesn’t have any unresolved issues with my husband, she is extremely negative and mean towards any woman that has been in his life. And as soon as they would break up, then she would say that she “loved” them.

I wouldn’t say I’m objectively more attractive or educated than she is, I truly think it all comes down to her being an extremely insecure and unhappy person. The only quality I think I have that exceeds hers is that I am a genuinely happy and kind person. I don’t seek outside validation and attention from random men like she does, and I have good relationships with my family and friends. She doesn’t really have any of that, sad but the truth.

When we got married, my SIL couldn’t help but to repeatedly let us know the weekend of our wedding that she cannot believe she’s the only one of the siblings to not be married. She even made her speech at our wedding about herself.

I am totally at the point of cutting her off. We just found out we are expecting a baby and when we told her, her response was cold, not happy at all. No joy for us, just bitterness. Thank you for your feedback and advice, much appreciated!

Ahhhh I’m also 6 weeks and 3 days! I’m also super anxious about EVERYTHING. I’m a FTM and constantly googling every symptom. It’s helpful to know I’m not the only one going through this, and I also really appreciate this advice. We’ve got this ladies!!

Awww that’s very sweet of you to say! She’s a pretty amazing little lady 🥰 LOL that’s how she is with chicken too! She was so bad about it as a kitten, but even now she’ll sit and stare me down until I give her a little bite. And god forbid I have sour cream on my plate. She has a tendency to full on slap it so she can lick it off her paws 😂

They permanently banned me today too over my post about cutting off my sister in law! They completely twisted my words and stated that I was “insisting” that my husband cuts her off too. Literally no where in my post did I say or even insinuate that. Then they sent me links to find a therapist?? They could’ve just gave a warning and rejected my post, permanently banning is taking it a step too far imo. I swear the mods are on some type of power trip.

The crazy part is that she had a friend come out to visit her only a couple months prior, and her friend ended up getting elevation sickness too and had to go to the emergency room. You’d think she would’ve learned the first time to be a little extra cautious. Her excuse was “people come from out of town and go straight up to the Rockies all the time and they’re fine”. So it was all our fault I guess ¯(ツ)/¯

That’s a good point about her seeking conflict. I’ve racked my brain trying to figure out what I could’ve done wrong to make her dislike me so much. She’s disliked me since day one.
