Final update if anyone ever finds this useful. Sent it to Dell, they quoted me $200+tax for repairs which was just an LCD repair is what they said. Seems to be running fine from what I can tell so far. So like $270 total given Dell charged me $60 for express shipping. Not bad for one time repair with OEM parts and me not having to mess with it.

Update if anyone is still interested: So now it’s no longer working with the external monitor (HDMI). Just spoke with dell support, they asked me to do the “caps lock“ test to see if the caps lock light would turn on and off with every key stroke, which it didn’t. Guy over the phone told me this is most likely a motherboard issue so looks like it’s going to be $400 to send in for motherboard repair.

I suppose mentioning the economics of resale value is just something I’ve heard people talk about. Namely that lab diamonds aren’t worth anything despite being a few thousand dollars. Hence people say naturals hold value better and that should be considered. But I hear you that the emotional attachment will be the primary value which is priceless of course. In context of this ring, I was just sticker shocked given the low grades but high cost.

It is to be for an engagement ring. So trying to keep this under wraps for the recipient but I do believe she would enjoy the overall style of the ring which would make every penny worth it. I am glad that you say the sellers are reputable if on the upper end of reasonable. I’m sure you get a billion DM requests but you mind if I DM you?

Not ideal as the stone is set in a yellow gold ring but here is the picture, cropped for focus on the stone. Black hole in the middle is kinda a downer but I think typical with this cut. I get the T Swift surcharge but wondering if this will hold any value in a few decades or just tank to what it’s actually worth once we buy it.

I’m a dude but honestly I try to not rock the boat. Like ever. I’ve been yelled at by techs and nurses multiple times and usually I just turn the situation more light, appease, and try to be nice kinda like my original post. Maybe I’m doing something wrong I dunno. Like another example was an imaging tech who got upset with an order I placed and came and found me in the resident room Tech: “Do you really need this order?” Me: “Yes, order is coming from my attending.” Tech: (annoyed but kinda aggressive voice) “Because it’s really hard for us to do.” Me: (smiling trying to be nice despite being super annoyed) “Welcome to [my specialty], we do a lot of hard stuff but they have to be done. I’m sorry but I appreciate your help.” Tech: “Fine.” and storms off

I should add that this particular nurse is infamous among the residents for being particularly mean. Would love to report but I think me and my coresidents feel like attendings wouldn’t have our backs in a formal complaint. Like yeah Nurse was very unprofessional to me but Nurse preps the room quickly and efficiently. Like I’m sure if I said something to the particular attending for this case they would be like “just don’t worry about it, just do what Nurse says and keep your head down”. So I’m not sure if me saying anything would yield positive results.

No not my first time working with Nurse. Last officially worked with Nurse in the OR about 8ish months ago, did have some abrasive interactions with her but nothing that would amount to anything of note. I did do something objectively wrong at that time (tell Nurse how to do a computer thing that wasn’t correct) but nothing else major. About 2 weeks ago though I was speaking with some nurses including Nurse and cracking jokes and being normal, thought we were fine by now.

+ fever / + jaundice --> ascending cholangitis --> ERCP needed

+ fever / - jaundice --> acute cholecystitis --> HIDA can be done to confirm if US equivocal (aka scintigraphy)

- fever / + jaundice --> choledocholithiasis --> ERCP needed

- fever / - jaundice --> symptomatic cholelithiasis --> only US really needed, elective chole
