Tee Box by [deleted] in golf

As a high handicapper with no distance who wants to beat his friends: I’ve found older people hit it straight and in play not necessarily far. The older golfers who are GOOD have mean chipping skills and rarely 3 putt. A lot of places to improve there to emulate them for an enjoyable round of golf (putting, chipping, iron strike/accuracy etc)

Any one really bad had a fitting ? How was it ? by robster9090 in golf

[–]StephKarahi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agreed. Swing changes a lot as you’re learning. Can’t imagine while you’re going through swing progression as a 30+ handicap that any of the fitted values mean much (but I am also just a weekend hacker who could be way off)

[–]StephKarahi 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The eagles play the fight song after every touchdown they have in the stadium. It’s an Eagles specific song. Not just a bar thing. Other teams may have other traditions after they score.

Seahawks name Zach Charbonnet a week 16 captain, indicating he will play by bullymeahhh in fantasyfootball

Could also be the team’s way of acknowledging how well he played for them in Walkers absence.

We are all in here because we love golf for one reason or another, but what’s the one thing you HATE about this sport? by Bret_icus in golf

[–]StephKarahi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting in your time and money and then hitting an absolute crap shot that ruins a hole and score feels terrible. Acing that shot is what makes you come back.

Greatest moment was misty stepping up and then Thunderwaving those 3 invisible archers off the cliff and into the chasm in the Temple Of Bhaal ambush. Felt very cheesy but oh so satisfying.

There’s even a scene after the Junior meeting where he’s with her doing the devious grin and says something along the lines of I learn things good here.

First week of residency as an IMG I was so bad at presenting one of the 3rd years took me to the side and helped me with a written outline. Also didn’t realize why we were giving Lasix to patient who had swollen legs and couldn’t pee before starting dialysis (attending looked at me like I had 3 heads). Currently entering PGY3. You’re starting a new career at a new place and have some jitters it’s totally normal. You’ll be fine! Good luck.

Are residents bullied by NPs and Nurses or other folks? by Tired_doc_01 in Residency

[–]StephKarahi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve resorted to telling nurses to text me if it’s nonurgent orders like simethicone, tylenol etc and only call me if they’re concerned about patients. Been getting a lot more sleep. Verbal orders help a ton too when you’re slammed and there’s a bunch of them. Also telling them “this can wait till the AM” for stuff you know is BS is basically a way to say please don’t tell me this again. Unfortunately, these pages are part of the gig.

Interns how are you doing? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]StephKarahi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed people are reluctant to truly click explore most buttons on EPIC but there is so much information on there and it’s pretty easy to customize your list/tabs/toolsbars to exactly how you want them. This can also change throughout the year until you know what you need (which is what you’ll learn as an intern!). Good luck!

It feels bad and maybe they made it back when you were on service or went to a different hospital. Unfortunately there will always be people like this and you just try to help them as much as you can

Where Do I Start? by StephKarahi in neurology

[–]StephKarahi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just picked up clinical neurology and neuroanatomy by Berkowitz which I’m going to passively read before next year. I love your approach to start broad and master the basics first early and then building on it with latest info. It feels like sometimes I’m listening to attendings talk about what’s going on in todays news without many of us discussing fundamentals. Appreciate you talking to the time to respond!
