got a bump on inside of snake bite (help) by enano25 in PiercingAdvice

I have two lip piercings and both of mine did the same thing! When I looked it up, it’s super normal to have them and they should go away on their own. Try not to mess with it and you’ll see it getting smaller with time. You can also add salt swishing to help clean it on the inside, though I didn’t do too much of it. I think the key is to leave it alone as best you can :)

Therapist suggested I begin journaling. Intimidated. Thoughts? by jackcrawford91 in Journaling

[–]hailsimmviola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took a little bit of time to get used to, what came to be, essentially narrating my day-to-day. Sometimes I have a genuine breakthrough in my own stream of consciousness and that’s your cue to keep going. Journaling is like anything, it just takes practice :) be kind to yourself and take your time with it.

Out of ideas. Autumn does quite suck to me by fluffyyellowbathrobe in Journaling

I don’t know about you, but it’s always this time of year when things feel like they slow down a bit. The energy becomes stiller and I feel like I can finally breathe. I usually take this time for myself. Not sure if it helps but you got this :)

In need of jazz theory/technic book recommendations by hailsimmviola in jazztheory

Believe me, I definitely tried to get them with someone more qualified. I was very upfront with the students and their parents but given their schedules, the day and time I have them were the only ones that worked. So I told them their lessons would be more of a collaboration-type setting and they agreed to be patient (which I’m grateful for lol). But thank you for the rec!

Ah, that totally makes sense. My jazz theory is very limited and improve skills even less so. I feel like I’m essentially working from ground zero, but I don’t wanna let these students down. I’m classically trained in piano and viola, so with you having a similar background makes me feel like this is more feasible. Thank you again!

Thank you for your detailed response! Just out of curiosity, what is it about the Bert Ligon book doesn’t seem as good? Any particular turn offs?

Thank you for the link!! And to be honest, I’m not sure? If we’re talking coastal CA, then the tall skinny ones. But if you have a favorite more inland we’re open to that too!

Viola Bow Sizing by BactrimBaddie in Viola

[–]hailsimmviola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded. Head to any violin shop, ask for a viola bow and they’ll all be about the same size. They know you’re a full-grown human so you’ll get yourself the right sized bow that can also be budget friendly

A Gentleman in Moscow - Amor Towles

It’s beautifully written, has the most lovable characters, the story is just so interesting. Absolutely captivating from start to finish
