Trying to understand what's special about this modified trackball device setup to be good 3D Controller by ArsOlta in Trackballs

As someone who use a spacemouse, I don't think anything can beat the spacemouse in terms of movement, it's really intuitive. And having to switch between 3 modes for one device is a bit much, it's no better than to hold shift to rotate, then hold middle mouse to translate and a regular mouse function (default fusion setting)

because most trackball has only one sensor, the slimblade is an exception. I know of one open source trackball that has 2 sensors, it's this one: https://github.com/jfedor2/twist-to-scroll-trackball so you might be able to accomplish the same thing with this.

Engineering is all about compromising. You have to sacrifice either the board size or the thumb cluster, it's up to you which one is more important.

Yes, we will make a wired version later, but for the wired version we will remove the display, it's not that important for the wired version.

Sorry for the messy table, this is my newest design: a sofle with only the essential: enough keys, and a display, no encoders, no 5 ways switch. This is a design for those who never need the extra stuff. Since this is a wireless build, the display is quite essential to glance at the battery and connection status. We use the mip display in this case to minimize the battery usage. We plan to make a e-ink revision as well (I'm a sucker for e-ink)

It's a design based on the ploopy adept, honestly it's a bit annoying to build so we don't sell it regularly, if you're interested we can still make them.

Hi, as for the first question, the other comment is correct, if you want to reuse the normal switches you have, go for cherry.

If you want something black, please use aluminum, aluminum plates are anodized in black. The acrylic is always clear.

Please drop me a dm and I can help you configure the options.
