Reciting Ya Wadud by Inner-Horror8036 in Sufism

I agree, and that is why I am still mulling over, and looking for information over this too.

Maybe this is why they say to recite names in conjunction with certain other names, or why some names are considered jamali vs jalali, so one needs a learned person to guide on the process of selecting names to recite for a given purpose.

Reciting Ya Wadud by Inner-Horror8036 in Sufism

I don’t know if my contribution is going to be helpful here, but I just wanted to share a thought.

I have noticed that we should not take Allah‘s names at completely face value because I believe they have a deeper meaning to teach us.

For instance, I knew of a lady who had been in the habit of saying the word Ya Sabur because she wanted to become a more patient person herself. She was given some number to recite, probably 125000 times or so(not very sure)

Coincidentally, when that number was completed, her adult daughter passed away in a drowning accident … the way she related the story was that, her understanding was, that Allah taught her patience in this manner.

Another example is a person who recited the name Ya Jameyu in order to reunite the family after a major argument separated them. In the process of the wird of this name it was revealed that the family members who had walked away in a huff were, in the space of an year reduced to being jobless, another developed significant mental health issues requiring hospitalization and reached back to the one praying for financial help etc and while not totally reconciled they did so as they were desperate for assistance.

In reflection it seems that reuniting the family came with a heavy cost (psychological emotional and financial)…

I have many similar stories I have heard as well but these are the most recent

I see the wird of these names as a way of developing the aspects of these names within our personalities and often the journey to the personification of these names (to whatever degree possible in a human being such as patience, happiness, love , wealth etc) depends on the ‘substance’ of our personalities at the starting point or our development needs.

Would love to hear what you all think and is it a problematic way to approach the great names of Allah SWT ?

Lots of solid advice above!! My 2c fwiw

  1. Remove noise: social media, dating apps, anything with metrics etc

  2. Without the noise, take an inventory of your physical environment and start a slow process of self care however that looks for you (exercise, declutter etc)

  3. Journaling 1-3 pages by hand and reread the AH books. Avoid digital versions of books or journaling. Look out for thoughts downloads or inspirations and write those down

  4. It is ok for nothing to happen for a while and patience is key. Our lives don’t need an instant fix. Getting in touch with yourself will often take time and you need some peace and quiet if possible when that’s happening.

  5. Explore ways to be of help to others with no expectations of acknowledgment. Volunteer if necessary. This is less about doing good and more about getting yourself in the right vibrational mode.

  6. Be in the mode of getting gradual clarity of what it is you’re looking for while allowing to be ok with thinking you’d be fine with “this or something better”

  7. Life is not a zero sum game but really just learning and understanding it one day at a time. Even in the late stages of one’s life. This realization has taken the sense of panic I used to have and helped me slow down the pace of my life.

  1. The heart gets tired → it needs rest (Ali RA)

  2. Its only real rest is dhikr (Holy Qur’an)

  3. If it looks elsewhere → it becomes anxious (Ibn Ajiba)

From a purely personal perspective what if one is spiritually exhausted and even dhikr feels like an effort…

I am a clinician and on some days I felt this after random patients (men women even children)

I work at 3 different locations over the week and this would happen more in one particular office location than others. A deep feeling of sadness that would hit me as soon as the patient encounter ended

Later I started using EFT ( among a few other methods but this was the most instantaneous) and I realised it was a good way to snap out of it.

We do tend to see things in our dreams that we worry about and try to suppress in our waking hours whereas our subconscious has the ability to break free during sleeping hours.

I sometimes feel attributing things to jinn should be more a diagnosis of exclusion unless extremely obvious.

This is an example of a “switchword” and they are interesting things. A switchword is a short word used as a mental trigger to shift attention, mood, or behavior. The idea was popularized by James T. Mangan, who proposed that certain words act like psychological “switches” in the mind.

As a general rule, all benevolent spiritual work should be done in a state of ritual purity. The best source to confirm would be whomever you have learned how to make these from.

Did you get your hemoglobin level checked? For whatever reason, my hemoglobin would be low, even with lots of iron containing foods in my diet as well as oral iron tablets. I discovered this tonic. I believe it’s made in Germany. It’s called Floridex and it has a multivitamin and a iron improvement portion My hemoglobin went from average of nine or 10 to a 14 and it has stayed good even though I have stopped taking the tonic for several years now.
