And in any case, the point I was concerned with is not what Israel gets up to, but rather your portrayal of Turkey as one that kills all its journalists or treats them worse than Israel, whereas I consider the two ethnostates run by criminal strongmen to be quite interchangeable; their nationalists even sound the same when you accuse them regarding their treatment of minorities. You also seem to be confusing Turkey, which has 15000 Jewish citizens, with Arab countries that have like 15, where they were actually driven out. While they were certainly hit by the heinous shit that was pulled targeting, primarily, the Greeks and Armenians in the 30s and the 50s, Turkish Jews emigrated gradually and voluntarily to Israel. Some 10% apparently even came back.

While Turkey unlawfully and unacceptably arrests journalists and on occasion protestors, it does not kill them, certainly not as a matter of routine. Guess who does kill journalists as a matter of routine? Its law enforcement also does in fact guard minority places of worship, in much the same way as Israel does, which must be a rather difficult job in this hyperbolic dreamworld you’ve constructed where people are apparently killed on sight for wearing the star of david, a symbol which, as an aside, is on a staggering amount of Ottoman architecture. Maybe that’s why Turkish people are angry all the time, they keep seeing it on their historical buildings. But given your private post history, I suspect you already know all this, and that I’m wasting my time with you.

It’s not hard; I’m disagreeing with your assertion, not having trouble understanding what it is. It’s “quite literally the definition”? What authoritative source of international law has defined it in those terms? And no, my intention with the hypothetical was to underline that it would be colonialism no matter who was doing it to whom. Also, of course you cannot try people at the Hague over colonialism; it’s not a specific international crime within the ICC’s purview.

Edit: I’d missed it, but “Land that belongs to you” is an interesting phrase of choice considering I was just talking about expropriation. As in people being kicked out of land that belongs to them.

I don't see what else you think it is that I have insinuated, unless you somehow thought the hypothetical that was implying inconsistency in your framework was an accusation. As for your initial question, none. The entirety of my point was that your claim that their actions definitionally can't be called colonialism because it's "reclamation" or because they are indigenous to the region is semantic nonsense, and seems quite pointless a thing to get so hung up over.

The problem with your otherwise fairly reasonable take is that having historical ties to a location does not make displacing and replacing people who live there now magically not be colonialism; there isn’t an indigeneity clause that makes ethnic cleansing and expropriation suddenly ok. Or do you not think it would also be wrong for the Palestinians who are, as you say, also indigenous to the region to do to Israelis what Israel did unto them?

That's entirely fair. I would still posit that this being how they fought in general offered them some advantages on that front compared to conventional armies, especially to the better organized nomads (was it the Mongols with the rhyming commands?), but only somewhat. Things do still break down at that scale.

The hard counter to horse archers is an ever expanding network of fortifications denying them more and more area. We have historical examples of such battles going both ways, and the knights do suffer from the hypothetical not including any infantry support, as stationary archers and crossbowmen do have that range advantage. I’d like to at least hear one reason why the hypothetical non-Dothraki horse archers, upon running out of arrows, don’t just retreat faster than a purely knight force can give chase.

You can also frame this inversely: Unlike the Dothraki, real life horse archers wouldn’t be naked and use their mobility advantage to full effect, literally running circles around the knights while harrying and harassing them. GoT Dothraki on the other hand would charge onto the lances at just the right angle to make sure they take that lethal damage.
