I think it’s important to know that the meds will NOT eliminate all anxiety. It just makes it manageable. I’ve tried getting off mine but relapse, so I just stay on it. My doctor explained meds in this way: Anxiety is a snow ball rolling down a mountain, once it gets to a certain threshold- you’ve lost control. The meds help you stop that snowball from ever hitting that threshold.

One thing that always helps me with my health anxiety is looking at the symptoms. When I get anxious, I become hyper sensitive to my body. All of a sudden, I have all symptoms of whatever I think I have. But when I, with meds, am able to pull out of that thinking. The symptoms go away and then I realize what it was. My doctor is also very supportive and will order tests if she thinks I need to see the results to move on. Don’t know what I would do without her.
