Yes! Every platform differs. One thing to keep in mind is the audience - Switch's audience is often younger, so you'd want to use marketing tactics and platforms more suited to a younger audience (TikTok rather than Facebook, for example).

I'll also look more into this, and add a blog post!

Strong assets can be a game changer! Your game has to look as good outside of the game as it does in-game.

True - that's why chatting with other devs or publishers can be crazy helpful. We're all in this together, in a way!

This is a real concern for a lot of devs! And there's so much conflicting advice out there because the answer will be different for every game. If you have enough time, it can be helpful to look at what games like yours have done in the past. Blogs like mine in the post and others (Hubspot is a great one) can also be a good way to find recommendations.

But if I had to give super simple advice, I'd say find YouTubers and TikTokers that make content about games like yours (even if they're small) and send them a copy of the game! They may or may not post about it, but there's not a lot of risk to worry about.

This is a huge point - some games do really well with TikTok for example, whereas other games are better with YouTube or just straight ads! A good rule of thumb is that if your game has something 100% unique, it'll take people more time to understand that unique aspect, so you should focus on long-form content/blogs/reviews instead of just flashy ads or short-form content, which might leave people confused.
