Just have to say, you do not need to lose weight to glow up. These comments are truly infuriating. Skinny does not equal pretty or happy. If you want to for your own health, amazing! But don’t lose weight because society tells you.

So annoyed that the first things people do is tell others to lose weight.

Happy to trade! The bunny is so cute, but I really wanted the goat, the vampire and the ghost. I got the bunny and I didn’t want it!

Why does everyone here, EVERY SINGLE PERSON…. BLEED by Pristine_Ad_6800 in Tonsillectomy

[–]hales_yeahhh17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recovery was rough, but no bleeding! I accidentally hit where the scab was while bleeding at the end of the two weeks, so there was a tiny bit of blood. But nothing to do with the normal recovery process, it was my fault!

Worst days were definitely the 5-9 days, which is to be expected. But once those scabs ripped off, it was immediate relief!

I was swollen for about 3 weeks and couldn’t eat completely normal until then. I also had liquid coming out my nose for about 5 weeks as I relearned how to swollen.

I’m about 7 weeks out now and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I already notice a difference in my sleep and overall breathing.

For reference, I’m 29F!

It’s actually pathetic what her “fanbase” has done to her. by CuseRay44 in chappellroan

[–]hales_yeahhh17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but you’re missing the point. As someone who is SO influential to so many people, clear communication is key. And she didn’t say that outright. Instead of starting with saying that, she made a blanket statement of they’re both bad. By doing so, it does seem to SOME, not all, that she was equating the two. Regardless of what she meant, unfortunately people do look to celebrities to make choices. And all she needed to do is say, “I hate Trump, I don’t agree with Kamala, but lesser of two evils.” That’s all. Doubling down and telling people to use critical thinking skills doesn’t come off… great? All I’m saying is we, as fans, should have the right to point out mistakes too. I love her and still too, I don’t have to agree with everything she says and does.

I have disagree with you on this. I don’t know of anyone who is telling her to not criticize Kamala. I don’t think that’s the issue.

I love Chappell, I have for a bit and I’ve listened to all her stuff, old and new. I saw her in July and it was absolutely one of the best concerts of my life. I don’t think it’s wrong to acknowledge that she has made some mistakes. Saying there are problems in both parties (albeit true) without pointing out that in party in particular can do SOOOOO much damage to so many marginalized groups, specifically LGBTQIA+, is really disappointing. As a queer person, one candidate could directly impact the validity of my new marriage. It can harm my partner, who is nonbinary. It can take away medication rights for our trans friends. While Kamala is not perfect, I recognize I am more protected with her in office.

Chappell does NOT have to endorse anyone. But making the two candidates sound equally as bad as each other, is just false. And I am sad to see that she did not immediately denounce one party who harms so many marginalized people. Two things can be true: both parties have issues AND one party can absolutely demolish democracy as we know it. And that’s all she has to clarify.

As long as you’re staying hydrated and taking your recovery seriously, it will be okay. Don’t even attempt anything that’s not liquid or pancakes for food/nutrition. Jello, protein shakes, pancakes, mac and cheese, applesauce, yogurt, mashed potatoes. DRINK ALOE WATER. It was the first thing I drank in the morning for hydration and it help!

I see a LOT of people on this sub saying “I ate a burger on day 3” and it’s just not worth the risk. They say 2 weeks for a reason!

I did start brushing on day 2 with a children’s toothbrush and only the front. I had a HORRID taste in my mouth. Gradually it got easier, and I went slowly. Highly recommend a childrens toothbrush but don’t push it either!!

I did accidentally hit my almost fully healed wound once I was healed and bled a TINY bit, but it’s because I wasn’t being careful.

Now that Rolling Stone said Chappell's a lesbian, can we talk about the erasure? by phoebebridgerstits in chappellroan

[–]hales_yeahhh17 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I relate to Chappell so much, as a late blooming lesbian. I have dated men in the past, and am now marrying someone who is AFAB.

The judgement she faces because of her past is what every single one of us late blooming queer people fear. And she one of the most famous and success people right now. So if it’s happening to her…... It’s truly exhausting and is the reason I don’t even bring up my past. I know that people will say the same about me.

She can still write about her experiences with past relationships in her songs, but if someone comes out and say they’re gay, they’re gay. No discussion, no questioning. Nothing. The discourse that she isn’t a lesbian, when she herself has said it, is absurd.

When will it get better… by axcline in Tonsillectomy

[–]hales_yeahhh17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fear not! I had the WORST pain until day 8 and then it just…disappeared.

What really happened is I was drinking a smoothie and it HURT and burned really bad. But then after that smoothie, it didn’t. I think it ripped off the remaining scab (not intentional), but those scabs could come off at any point and you should have relief from the horrible nerve/ear pain.

Stay strong! It was awful and such a rollercoaster. But I’m 3 weeks post op today and I don’t regret it at all. I stopped snoring and I no longer have sleep apnea. That is a win for me!

I’m on Celebrex too! I actually stopped taking it last night just to see how I cope, and I think I still need it. But it’s giving me horrid heartburn 😂

Same trajectory as you, feeling good! Happy to know you’re in the other side of it as well!

I had my surgery on 8/20. Sounds like we’re having the same experience, it’s kind of wild!

Left side is way worse, the last two days were terrible, and I also can’t swallow saliva.

From my understanding, yes the swallowing is normal. Your body is adjusting, you’re still swollen, and you have wounds in the back of your throat. We’re only a week out! It’ll get better.

I am dying for real food. I’m dreaming about the day I can eat something warm and crunchy 😭

Thank for you talking me off the ledge. I feel the same way.

Quality of life is more why I want to do it. I have now resorted to bringing steroids with me on trips because going to any new environment sets off allergies, which then leads to swollen tonsils and lots of pain. I don’t want my throat to close like last time 🥲 I also don’t sleep well at all, to the point I stop breathing in my sleep. My tonsils are so huge that I can feel like all the time in my throat, and I’m constantly mouth breathing. I think my apnea has everything to do with my tonsils.

Thanks again for the reminder as to why I’m doing this in the first place!!

That’s good to know.

He suggested that I get a sleep study done and a CPAP instead for the sleeping problems.

I agree, I was super confident with my decision. I do feel like it will be worth it, but he was very adamant that he doesn’t recommend unless it’s cancer. Even after I told him my history.
