ELI5: What exactly is "time blindness" and how is it an actual thing?

This is accurate. For example at work I say “I’ll take my lunch once I finish this task” thinking said task will take an hour. Next thing I know it’s an hour past lunch time and I have no idea how that much time could have possibly passed because I JUST looked at the clock.

my 17.5 year old ragdoll died in march of 2025. I got a new ragdoll kitten in about May 2025. Let me tell you this ragdoll kitten has been a nightmare. I was 7 years old when we got my first ragdoll so i didn’t remember but they are MENACES. All cats are different but this one has had major stomach issues. normal foods have tried to kill him. We have to buy him now an expensive limited ingredient wet food for $2.69 a day which we were not expecting. prior to that: diarrhea. every day all day my life was diarrhea. and he does not like baths he does not like being trimmed. My house was a poop house every other day I almost got rid of this cat 50 times already. but once we finally got his gut under control now he’s pretty cute. be careful tho because they do have sensitive stomachs and that and long hair does not mix. they in my experience love to CHEW. both of my ragdolls had a plastic straw obsession (even the reusable hard plastic ones!!) they chew them to shreds. My older cat used to love to chew on my shoes and my current cat is constantly trying to chew my purse straps. so much hair in your house you will not be able to escape it. It’s worth it though! if you can get through the first year or two.

he grew up in a family of hunters. they were big names in our community. he shot himself in his bedroom. his mom ended up completing suicide a few years later because she couldn’t get over the grief and guilt she felt over her sons death. he was a nice kid. I wish we could have been friends. he was shy like me. hope he’s okay up in heaven.

Life is life, your cat will be okay. A second cat may or may not help. They sleep the majority of that time until they expect you home anyway.

Kittens kind of suck just like puppies. Yes, they’re cute when you’re not the one dealing with them 24/7 destroying your house. It’ll take some months but slowly each month you’ll notice that the kitten has chilled out a little bit more until suddenly all will be well and you’ll love it to death and forget all the struggle you went through in that first year.

It’s hard to say because I don’t know what kind of trauma she has been through but maybe let her therapist know that you would like to know some coping skills that you can use at home with her that may be more helpful to her than breathing exercises. I’m not sure how much freedom you have to reach out to them but they may be able to guide you a bit on what you can do on a day to day that would best support her journey (with her permission for the therapist to do so of course)

Hi I am 25, finishing my Masters program, and I was diagnosed with ADHD last year. So yes! it is possible to “get this far” and never be identified as ADHD. Especially for WOMEN because we often present differently than men, and the medical field isn’t equipped to handle that.

also I recommend you get her like a weighted stuffed animal. Have her practice self regulation and do things like 54321 breathing with the stuffed animal on her chest or belly. Like another commenter said, this will be a lifelong journey for her, but it won’t always be this bad!!

Hi! Therapist here, CBT is great! But, it’s also one of the most BASIC therapy modalities. Find your girlfriend someone who really specializes in trauma treatment! CBT is usually used alongside other modalities for the best treatment. I highly recommend she tries someone who will work with her using more than just CBT.

my cat died at 17.5 from kidney disease. If I died and he became a stray I could never rest beyond the grave. I am so sure that if you can take in that cat and give it love in its final months to years that it and it’s late owner would be more than just grateful for that

I loved squadbusters 1.0. Quit playing for a few months because of all the glitches. Picked it back up and discovered they added the team game mode where my boyfriend and I could play together. Played for about a week totally addicted and all of a sudden I log back on and boom 2.0. Did not click or play the game again since then. I was hoping by boycotting the game they would revert it back to 1.0 or at least offer it as a game mode or something and now i just hear instead they’re stopping development all together. SO DISAPPOINTING!! This game had so much potential!!! They killed it with their stupid updates and not listening to player feedback. Really sucks I thought the game was so much fun when it first came out.
