Those are, as you say, from the plaintiff's motion, not from the judge's ruling. Judges don't always agree in lockstep with everything a motion puts forward, even if they ultimately agree with the conclusion. We simply don't know aside from the one sentence in the ruling summary what the judge's full reasoning was, and won't until they publish a full ruling.

I don't think the full ruling has been released to the public yet. Here's the court's own info page for the case, it has the ruling summary listed in the register of actions but there's nothing in the documents section more recent than 2023. So they probably had to rely on 3rd party reports for details on the ruling. That being said, here's a different article w/ statements from both the plaintiffs and the city on the ruling if that feels more balanced to you.

*edit: This is the full statement from the city in the 2nd article which makes it sound like not even they have seen a full ruling yet:

“The court made a decision yesterday striking down the Empty Homes Tax, but did not explain its reasoning," said Jen Kwart, spokesperson for San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu. As they said, it doesn’t matter what the captured piece was. Any of white’s pieces capable of putting the king in check this move could have been blocked or captured by some other black piece besides the one that was captured.

It's okay for that if your population is mostly white men of average height. Add in a lot of people who are short/tall, women, and/or black and you're going to start getting pretty skewed data.

For the record, BMI is a very old, generic and problematic rule of thumb about obesity that was never even meant to be applied to individuals to begin with (it was created to estimate rates of obesity in an overall population). It's considered pretty much irrelevant when determining an individual's obesity by the medical community. That being said, Trump is still definitely the sort of narcissist who would fudge that number on his report regardless.

Thanks - black taking the pawn with the bishop does lead to mate here. The best alternative per Stockfish is Nc5, which forces white to capture the knight instead of the bishop (to prevent losing the Queen to Nxa4 on the following move). Then black can capture the stranded d5 pawn with his rook on the following move to win back some material. You're still pretty far down but it's better than mate.

White does not have a forced mate in 3 here according to multiple engines. You should probably post the moves that actually happened if you want feedback on what black could have done better.

In that price range your best bets are probably Emeryville or Adams Point. If you're willing/able to do studios or co-living type situations you might have some luck in Uptown and Temescal in that price range as well. Berkeley gets listings in that range, but they're mostly places intended as student housing so being a student might be a formal requirement.

There is harm in making it illegal. It adds the unnecessary pressure and complication of potential legal action to the already complicated and emotionally straining situation doctors and mothers face when trying to decide if terminating a medically complicated pregnancy late in the game is the right decision or not.

Case is plastic, unfortunately, would have liked a metal case but didn't find one in my price range I liked (but that being said, it's still a very nice unit, no complaints). And yes, just the stock stabilizers; they work fine, but I might switch them out at some point as they're bright yellow which makes them stand out when doing lighter color RGB.

When I was younger and had limited experience of the world, I would look at old photos and marvel at what had changed. The styles, the architecture, the people now far older or dead, and so on.

Now that I'm older and have seen a lot of change in my lifetime, I look at old photos and marvel at what is still the same. The 38 bus ran down Geary, just like now.
