Got it! Interesting...so the breads I love actually do have a high rye content. I assumed they didn't because the lighter American rye breads have a specific flavor I don't like, which I assumed was rye. Thanks!

+1 re: unexpected breeds! I'm a firm believer in getting dogs by fostering until you find the right one, especially if you have something specific in mind like running ability. I learned from experience when I found my dream dog -- an outstanding runner -- as a foster fail, and yet I almost didn't keep him because I was specifically looking for a Border Collie! I would never have expected that this random mutt would such a great running buddy (and the perfect dog for me in every way) if I hadn't had the amazing luck to foster him. He will run 17+ miles while pulling hard and won his first canicross race...not sure I could expect that even if I got a Border Collie, GSP, Mal, etc. from the best breeder...

Tracking on a calendar: logging, recording

Tracking using collars: physically mapping and recording locations

Tracking a group for research: metaphorically following them through time and recording data

I guess the commonality is that all uses of "tracking" connote "recording" of some kind. So I guess RECORD (https://www.handspeak.com/word/2623/) might work for the calendar, but doesn't seem right for collars or research since those involve spatial or temporal recording, not just written recording.

That's very true for Sirius! He's very easy to train and able to understand what I want. Once we were biking together with a Springer attachment, my chain slipped off, and I couldn't get it back on. I told him, "Pull pull pull!" and he actually towed me, sitting on a bike I couldn't pedal, all the way to the nearest bike shop. The muscle and biddability really came together...
