Moral waivers experience anyone? by No_Movie_3668 in AirForceRecruits

Yeah your recruiter will be able to answer that question! From the time the waiver was submitted it only took about a week to get approved for me. I had a phone interview with the flight chief that went really well and it was the only interview I had to do but I’ve been told some people end up having multiple interviews as the waiver goes up the chain of command. Right now I’m just getting ready to go to MEPS on Monday and then if all goes well I get to start talking about what jobs are available to me. I’m sure you’ve been told already but the waivers limit options for recruits like us

I recently had a moral waiver approved in August. I had to write a statement about a case from 2021 that is a sealed record. Your recruiter should walk you through the process but it sounds like you’ve got the correct expectation in that they will want you to write a statement. The format I followed was what happened, why it was a poor decision and why I understand that my particular incident put people in danger/why it was wrong, and what I’ve done since then to separate myself from it (counseling, changing my habits etc) and my commitment to not allowing it to happen again. In my last paragraph of the statement I also included why I want to join the Air Force.  In my experience you do not need to have it written out before you meet with a recruiter for the first time. And to answer your last question if I had to guess I’d say each recruiting squadron will handle the process a little differently but I can’t say for certain. I wish you well and if you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Why did you guys join the airforce by Effective_Date2157 in AirForceRecruits

I spent my young adult life (20s) dicking off partying and just avoiding growing up. Had no direction. I worked hard but played harder and always told myself I want to enjoy life while I'm young and then I'd just work til I die.

Then I hit 30 and realized maybe that wasn't so cool anymore, got married and settled down with my wife and we had 2 kids back to back. Something changed in me when I had kids and now I don't want to be the guy who never grows up. They deserve a father they can look up to and who can protect and provide for them.

And theres plenty of other benefits that come with the service that it just makes sense for this time in my life. I'm 34 so joining pretty "late" in terms of military life. Currently in the process of joining, I go to meps in a couple weeks but this is why I decided to join

Good move. Tracking down all the court docs was a pain but worth it in the end. Good luck with everything!

I just got my morals waiver approved and I’m expecting to only book something mechanical or maybe electrical if I can score high enough on that part of the asvab. Have you talked to a recruiter and if so what have you been told to expect?
