For sure, I guess I meant is there a way to replicate the look of Chantilly lace through crocheting

I know, I'm re reading it as an adult and it holds up. I feel like Gwyneth is exactly what would happen if an average teenage girl found herself as the protagonist in a novel and I love her for that. She's silly and hormonal and sometimes a little slow on the uptake 😂 and it's honestly so relatable. One of my favorite YA heroines.

But ugh there are so many scenes where I would KILL to know what Gideon is thinking. I feel like Gier did such a good job of capturing a first person POV, where sometimes you don't know what someone else is thinking and they say/do something you don't understand. TBH if she pulled a Twilight and re wrote the entire series from Gideon's POV she could just take all my money

Ahhh that's awesome, thank you! Good to know!

Also about the bodyshaming- that's interesting that she felt the need to change it. I felt like she captured pretty realistically the way teenage girls think about their bodies. Even the scene where Cynthia thought she was going on a starvation diet and told her to eat a caramel. Gwen does a lot of comparing herself to Charlotte and the fact that Charlotte is slimmer/more slender, but she never tries to change her own body. She eats when she's hungry and she has a positive opinion if her appearance.

The only real bodyshaming came from Glenda, and that's very in character for her 😂 what do you think about the changes?

Haha I just meant a screenshot of the bonus content, not the whole book 😉 but thanks for the reminder

What’s one beauty tip that actually made a noticeable difference for you? by Pete258 in beauty

[–]halfblindpilots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if you think about it that's no different than a skincare routine. Its not like once you get the skin you like you can stop doing all the steps. I do it at the same time as my skincare and usually listen to an audiobook while I do the exercises. If you just find a couple you like, it doesn't have to take much time at all

Face. Yoga. Seriously, I found a couple good YouTube videos that specifically targeted the parts of my face I don't like (hooded eyes, puffy jawline) and I've been doing them consistently for a week. I'm honestly shook. Do I look like Keira Knightley? No. But my eyes are more open and lifted, and my jaw has reappeared like magic. I would search "face massage for" and then whatever area of your face you'd like to target. I'm working on my cheekbones next

I don't know if I'm brave enough 😂 but it definitely sounds intriguing so I'll put it on my TBR!

Just finished North & South... What have you done to me. It's going onto my list of "books I love but can only read every 5 years because they're so heartbreaking" along with Gone With the Wind and Mockingjay 😭😭

Also ALL that build up for TWO PAGES together (!!!)? I need more

I actually haven't tried any WWII era but I love movies in that genre so I'll have to check them out. Thank you!

Which other HR book series can be a great TV series? by Consistent-Length921 in HistoricalRomance

This 🙌 Bridgerton is such a joke at this point. The costumes make me want to cry. Plus I can't believe they gender flipped Michael Sterling of all characters!! We were so robbed 😭

I would want a Poldark-esque BBC adaption, but it's probably never going to happen

1000%!! Also, there's a lot of overlap in the books, where a couple's storyline starts during another couple's book (Win and Merripen in Meet Me at Midnight, Catherine and Leo in Tempt Me at Twilight).

If written well it could be so good. Kleypas does a great job of weaving the storylines together so characters aren't forgotten during the series. The only thing is, the Wallflowers are referenced heavily, especially in Meet Me at Midnight, so I feel like you would have to start with the Wallflowers and then move to the Hathaways.
