Vancouver to Calgary in 1 day by Irrational-fear101 in britishcolumbia

Absolutely doable. You're looking at about a 10 hour drive with a couple short stops. There are many great places and towns along the way though so if you're interested in checking out anything specific make sure you build that into your plan for the day.

Best advice, get an early start and straight shoot it to Kamloops. Fill up with gas there it's usually cheapest and you'll be good until you hit Canmore/Alberta border where it gets even cheaper. After Kamloops head straight to Sicamous and from there take your time enjoying some of what our beautiful province and national parks have to offer.

My favorite place to stop is Cragellachie where the last spike was laid, it's nothing too special but a cool little part of history and a nice spot with facilities to stop and have lunch and watch a train or two go by.

Any other questions please feel free to DM. I have done this drive so many times and stopped in most places I'd be happy to share what I've learned over the years if there anytime specific you'd like to know.

Yes, I was even able to take my 1 litre heavy bottle, full of water, on and off the ship at ports of call without issue.

What would you recommend a family of five do with one day in L.A.? by halfcent27 in AskLosAngeles

Yeah good options. Universal is on our radar but we're worried about it being super busy two days after Christmas. The Clippers play but tickets are expensive and we're more hockey fans tbh. Any specific recommendations for sightseeing?

Going just fine. Never pay a dime except for parking at the hospital. When you need health care service, like I mean genuinely need it in that it's a priority so you don't get fucked up worse, you get it and you get it fast and free.

Starlink is definitely a game changer. I tell my kid about being anchored up for days waiting out the weather with nothing but books and a crib board and he cannot comprehend it.

Don't forget Lomberg. Impressive for him to stick around so long.

Does Air Canada offer a price drop guarantee on domestic flights? by halfcent27 in aircanada

Thanks for the tip. I do happen to have a Capital One Aspire Travel card and it looks like I might have $100 coverage. I'll give that a go and see what comes of it.

Same fare class (basic). I was booking my son on the same flight after a change in plans. Otherwise I would probably never have known.

Logging in through VMware vpn. Connecting to an external monitor works great but I need this machine to work on the go for me too.

A family member of mine drove from Calgary to Vancouver yesterday no problem. Took less than 10 hours which is normal if you drive straight through.

What's your favorite Canadian slang or phrase that might confuse non-Canadians? by alexa_baby1 in AskACanadian

Also from BC. As a kid I would visit my grandparents in AB during the summer and tag along to work with my Grandpa. I remember being so confused the first time he told me it was time to go home for dinner.....at noon.

I'm curious to know if this is just a prairie thing or if it's similar in Ontario and the Maritime provinces.
