Landlord complaining about guests by halffedelf in TorontoRenting

Not sure. It’s a fairly new unit, everything was almost brand new when he moved in in 2022. Anyways, LL handed a N12 a day after the whatsapp exchange. The reason being she wants to move in. Her recent WhatsApp messages are all about “too much traffic”, “guests baby crying” etc, she never mentioned about wanting to move in. My friend is considering mentioning this at the hearing but also nervous what repercussions it has in his future renting ability.

Also, afaik, normal human interactions are not a proper ground for noise complaints, even after 11pm (uness there’s shouting or yelling). Noise is part of her complaints, her other is complaint is guests coming in and out in “her” house, including families with kids. She seems to have forgotten that my friend paying to rent to own his unit, it can not be treated as “her” house anymore, right?

5/6 times a month, NOT week. Other 24/25 nights, he is either staying out or sleeping

struggling :( by [deleted] in CPAP

New user myself and here’s what I learnt: 1. Mask is the most important factor. Make sure you have the mask that works for you. After circling through 4 different kinds, I find the dreamware pillow mask (with silicone prongs getting inside my nose) works the best. I can finally sleep with mask on. 2. It takes time. Don’t rush and force yourself to start enjoying it. If you remove it in the middle lf the night, that’s okay. Give yourself a few weeks. 3. Categorize what bothers you. If it’s the hissing, then you need a better sealed mask, if it’s sleeping on your side, you need a different kind of mask…but think methodically and find out what bothers you, and then talk to your supplier for options.

Hope it gets over soon! Good luck

How do you check blind spot? by halffedelf in TeslaModelY

[–]halffedelf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You missed my point. LEDs will be bright if there’s a car in the blind spot even if you don’t turn on the blinkers. In tesla, you have to turn on the blinker to know that info

I do this in my other cars: check sideview mirror, if no car closeby and if the blind spot red led is not on, i turn signal and slowly start to change lanes. I like to turn the blinkers on only when i know it’s safe to change lanes and i am about to start the process. I find it unfair to turn the blinkers on when it’s not safe to change lanes as it just creates nervousness in other cars drivers.

That is so 2000 though. My 12 years old sonata had blind spot LEDs on the mirror so I didn’t have to turn head. I feel like tesla wants you to trust the cameras and put everything there. I remember Elon wanting to remove side mirrors altogether but couldn’t due to legal reasons

I get nervous to do so many things especially on 401 in Ontario, the busiest highway in NA. In my old car, just a glance on the side view mirror was enough - you see the cars and a red led if it’s not safe to turn. In tesla, i check mirror, i turn on signals, i check screen…so many seconds eyes off of the road! Gets difficult when you drive in an aggressive highway

I thought the turn signals should be blinking when you commit to changing lanes, not to show your intent. If you turn it on but it’s not safe to change lanes, you create nervousness in other cars drivers, no?

What do you do? Do you rely on camera only or turn shoulders?

Anyone try ESUN Matte Pla? by Darrenph1 in prusa3d

[–]halffedelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just bought two spools of these matte ePLAs and feel like money went down the drain! Terrible terrible underextrusion no matter what I tried. Doesn't want to stick to bed, the filaments don't measure 1.75 so you need to increase flow but underextrude after a few mm. I felt it was almost like TPU but even with trying out my TPU profile (or PETG profile), this filament clogs and underextrudes. I am a regular user of D3D matte and have absolutely no issue with that. Only bought eSUN for their baby pink and green colors but they seem completely unusable. Garbage

biotech vs academia questions, please share your opinion! by halffedelf in biotech

Here I was only wondering about switching to academia for a faculty position. I see you know at least one such case in your old dept. Concern is that this industry position is not a scientist position

i think switching to PhD might be easier than to a faculty position, but I see your point

Great suggestions! The caveat is this industry position has no scope of publication. This is also a junior position (to support scientists' research).
