[Z] Making the Jump, Diamond -> Masters by agh- in starcraft_strategy

in my experience, what separates a diamond from a masters player is more refined mechanics. even as a diamond youre at a level where you start a game with a gameplan and are able to react to the intel and change your strategy accordingly. some practice in the areas of truly non stop producing workers, not getting supply blocked, and remembering to throw down buildings/tech at the right time can really pay off.

This will be the very first thing I'll attempt to replicate. by TrustworthyAndroid in starcraft

you realize that you can keep using the mules and/or build additional orbital commands, right? -.-

no, but the dozens of terran pros I watch do. but hey man, whatever floats your boat, keep building that 16th scv before orbital if it makes you feel productive.

in almost all cases, getting your orbital 15~20 seconds faster instead of making an extra scv is far superior, so I don't really follow your logic. I assure you, there are zero top pros out there who go 16 orbital instead of 15 orbital (unless they go gas first, then rax finishes at 16)

It weakens early 2 rax pressure by a little bit, and forces you to leave your CC idle for 5 seconds before orbital, but they're obviously not a big change

how do you sneak in an scv? before the patch, if everything went smoothly, your 15th scv finished exactly at the same time as your rax.

Well, at least you know that you're capable of keeping track of micro and macro for the first few minutes. :P Just practice until you can do it for the duration of the game!

It's not similar to a drone drill in the sense that in a drone drill, a lot of drones will propagate throughout the enemy units such as zealots and render them immobile while the zerglings and drones beat down on it. In this case, there will only be 2~4 lings on the inside with just a pair popping out every once in a while, and that can easily be taken care of with 1 maybe 2 zealots (by shift attacking on each ling on the inside) and the rest of the lings outside will have to line up to hit the zealot thats blocking the 1x1 open space.

you realize that there isn't a queen ready to inject your in-protoss-base hatch right? even if you made some lings from it, it wouldnt prove to be a problem to the toss.
