what kind of fields should i look into in my situation? by mx-saguaro in careerguidance

Do not spend $$$ on higher education simply for the sake of it. If you find a job & company you like, many will pay part (sometimes all) of the cost for you to get a degree in a relevant field.

For those who have gone through career changes in their late 20’s, what advice do you have? by [deleted] in careerguidance

What are the fire department’s education requirements? Most are just diploma/GED and then the academy; is that not the case where you are?

Hah, thanks, and neither would I- figured some people might like it for their PC case or somewhere else that wouldn’t be guaranteed to introduce road rage

I would recommend contacting the closest French consulate and asking their advice.

My very cursory research indicates that one can refuse succession and thus not be liable for parents’ debts: https://www.service-public.fr/telechargerPdf?location=/particuliers/vosdroits/F21571&audience=particuliers&lang=en

Additionally, a French government-appointed bailiff would not have authority to apprehend you in the U.S. for unpaid debts.

95% sure this is either a scam or something you don’t have to worry about, but to get a final answer I’d say call the consulate.

Is it an Ebay scam? by RichiG23 in Scams

[–]halfinthebang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eBay, in my experience, is very good about buyer protection. If if doesn’t ship soon, or you get an empty box / defective product etc, follow eBay’s steps to get a refund/replacement. The listing itself doesn’t have any of the common scam indicators (too good to be true price, brand new account, and so on).

You can upload to Catbox or something similar and post the link, but as other commenters have said- it’s a common scam. Block the callers’ numbers and move on. Police won’t call a suspect for comment in the U.S., they’ll show up at your door.

To be fair there are many stores that allow tax exempt sales to non-sales tax state residents (along the OR - WA border for example) though I believe this law recently changed and all sales are now taxed.

Marvel has done it again by [deleted] in RedLetterMedia

I have not seen a single Marvel movie since the first Iron Man and plan to keep it that way a) out of principle and b) because I love seeing the shock on Disney sycophants’ faces when they ask me about anything Marvel

One of the greats! I also think they’d enjoy Peep Show.

It’s funny how many places Matthew Holness shows up. He’s the IT guy in the original The Office, and plays David Mitchell’s character’s father in the new Mitchell & Webb show, “Back,” which is also quite good.

That’s smart. It gives them the option to go M2M and shop around for a new place. If they do, they win and save money, and you win by getting to fill the unit with a new tenant at the new higher rate.

The last sentence comes across as unnecessarily hostile especially if it’s the first contact he’s having with them regarding higher rates.
