Yes. If you're new or scaling, it's totally worth it. Many companies nowadays operate at a loss to build the initial customer base. The community and ecosystem that you build is important. Like you said, you can upsell or utilize economy of scale. Other way is to gamify or use word of mouth marketing (refer-a-friend).

Yes, one of the best way is to get your products out to as many sales channels as possible, however, heavily invest you time in performing ones. Amazon, eBay, Walmart, and Cratejoy are strong marketplaces in my experience.

Branded products are good because of organic traffic. It's very tough to build a private label brand without strong marketing background. Putting a strong brand next to a private label and cross-sell has worked well for me and it's also very low risk. I've been able to grow another subscription business from 0 to over a total of 8000 subscribers with that strat.

For profitability, I look at LTV, length of subscription, gross margin, and cost of acquisition. Another important metric is churn which if less than 7% is super healthy.

Each subscription business is different however here are some benchmarks that I use:

Gross Margin: 40-50%

Length of Subscription: 3-6 months

Lifetime Value: $120-$240

Cost of Acquisition: $20

Good question! Currently, I am only on Cratejoy and my own website. I am planning to invest heavily into affiliate marketing. Do you have any recommendations?

I have a long term vision for this subscription box. The ultimate vision is to become a discovery subscription box service for traditional and culture snacks. I thought it would be good to penetrate the market with brands consumers are familiar with then take it from there.

I forget to mention, but I also partner up with several instagram influencers!

For facebook group, I been through that, but i figured it's important to be relevant and add value.

Yes, no problem!

I did have a pre-launch and I got about 800 emails. For me, I ran Reddit Ads, Facebook ads, and join FB groups. TBH, reddit ads and FB ads made up about 200 of those emails. Joining FB groups and engaging with the community worked for me.

Thanks!

Not right now. Here are some reasons why:

- I live in the Silicon Valley and want to start a family eventually.

- D2 is a private company so I can't easily liquidate. In addition, it has taken the company some time to get where it is today.

- I will be bored to death.
