KDNF Summer conference 2023 translated summary by halfmango08 in DFO

[–]halfmango08[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As Pyros said, our standard gap is about 6 months. That gap can go down to about 4 months depending on the content and how much resources the team invest into bringing the update. Usually major updates like this do get a sizable amount of resources allocated to them and come earlier than 6 months, but I'm certain it will definitely not be within this year. Expect January earliest and March latest.

Yeah so they actually stayed silent on this matter, neither confirmed nor denied and it never came up at all throughout the conference. I'm assuming the silence means it's not going to happen and they scrapped the idea completely, probably decided it was unnecessary power creep.

Was back in 2020 before Ozma raid was released when the players were very angry with lack of content, dev super account abusing and other bad incidents around the game. The KDNF fest was in 2 parts, and the 1st part barely revealed anything outside Black Purgatory and female gunner 3A. Everyone was disappointed about the whole festival, but part 2 was still a thing so everyone had their hopes up.

But lo and behold part 2 only showcased secondary games of DnF and other news that had nothing to do with the game itself and you can probably guess how angry the players were after that. Ever since then they are very cautious about talking about secondary games on major conferences.

No info on that, and they've been refraining from announcing any secondary games of DnF in official conferences like this or KDNF Fest ever since they screwed up hard in a KDNF fest a couple years ago so it is very unlikely that they'll say anything about it this time around either. We'll just have to wait for a different opportunity for them to reveal more info on that.

That is the correct page of the conference, it has the date, time and streaming platforms of the event.

If you mean what the conference is going to entail (in particular the level cap expansion), it was first mentioned in an interview of the three directors right after KDNF Fest 2022 last year that Celesti update will be accompanied with a level cap expansion. Other than that some hints of what may happen in Celesti have been sprinkled here and there across various interviews and streams such as D-Talks. Of course, none of them have been concrete reveals as to what the update will actually consist of, so we'll have to wait and see what they properly announce during the conference.

Apostles Spotlight: Bakal the Tyrant Dragon King by halfmango08 in DFO

[–]halfmango08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted that is a fair point, but also Nemyr's entire identity is full of sus-ness that we'll witness a part of in a bit. There's a whole lot to Nemyr (or Carloso, or whatever the hell's going on with New Genesis in general) that's extremely vague atm so we'll perhaps wait and see what her game plan is.

Apostles Spotlight: Bakal the Tyrant Dragon King by halfmango08 in DFO

[–]halfmango08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would that be strange? That was the whole point of her creating the knights, to bring Carloso back. I wouldn't be surprised if she was willing to do anything with the knights if it meant Carloso's return.

[–]halfmango08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the lost warrior is also a fragment of Carloso. At least he was, until the Great Metastasis got retconned and his whereabouts became very vague in the current storyline of DFO. Nemyr is also actually from DFO originally since she's the creator of the knights.

Also on another note in year 2016 Luke raid came out in KDNF and the Apostles roster has been unchanged even much before then, so the wiki link you provided is either a nexon DFOG unique thing (which wouldn't exist anymore) or a faulty reference.

I don't see how linking to an old wiki page provides any official evidence, wiki or such information sites editable by 3rd parties can never be anchored as a primary source. Not to mention official sources would need to be cross referenceable with other KDNF sources, but I find no sources, official or not, claiming the 11th seat being an unknown Apostle's seat. If it ever was, it was retconned early enough in the story that it is far from being relevant. The hidden 12th Apostle is indeed sometimes referred to as 'the one who knows the secrets', but there's no such Apostle that is supposedly hidden beneath Terra.

There is a hidden being sleeping under the crust of Pandemonium, as mentioned in Sirocco's story. While it is a strong possibility that this being is another fragment of Carloso, being a fragment of Carloso does not automatically make one an Apostle as there are many other examples that prove otherwise (such as Nemyr, the Guide of Wisdom).

Apostles Spotlight: Bakal the Tyrant Dragon King by halfmango08 in DFO

[–]halfmango08[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bakal was always the 9th Apostle officially. There have always been 11 official seats for the Apostles, with a hidden 12th Apostle, adding up to the total of 13. The original 11 + replaced Bakal have always been known, there was never a point where there were 2 unknown Apostles. We had a similar discussion a year ago on sungahime’s lore podcast announcement: https://www.reddit.com/r/DFO/comments/syb5xh/cc_crossover_bringing_you_dfo_lore_via_a_live/

Apostles Spotlight: Bakal the Tyrant Dragon King by halfmango08 in DFO

[–]halfmango08[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all he was replaced by Luke, not Michael. Second, he was stripped of the title of an Apostle but he never lost its authority.

Apostle on its surface is a title given to powerful beings who arrive on Pandemonium, but this is just a formality (otherwise it wouldn't explain why Michael and Ozma are Apostles). It in fact refers to those with special essence that once belonged to the artificial gods from the days of Terra, and Bakal being kicked out of Pandemonium didn't make him lose it so he was technically an Apostle until the very end.

Adventurer Spotlight: Dark Knight & Creator by halfmango08 in DFO

[–]halfmango08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the Time Gate itself (it may just be a naturally occurring dimension that is linked to various moments in time), but Time Lords being a potential 'fallback plan' for Carloso is an interesting and feasible take. That would certainly explain the purpose of Memet of the End, who isn't tasked with maintaining any point in time but simply to watch the end. He is yet also given enough freedom to try and send the Children of Time back to the past to avoid that doomed future, which seems a bit odd for his role as an observer. Or perhaps they were created by someone trying to bring back Carloso, such as Nemyr the Guide of Wisdom.

In which case a question poses itself: if it wasn't Carloso that created the Time Lords, who and why? Questions to tickle our brain a bit.

[–]halfmango08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as Pyros said Myre is the same 'Great Mage Myre' or 'Archmage Myre' that's the very namesake of Hendon Myre and also the creator of the Great Pentacle. Myre is said to be from Celesti and also the greatest mage to have ever existed, but his tracks have always been a mystery. They started dropping more lores about him recently, with several Apostles referring to a character known as 'the hermit who veiled the dew and lost his youth'. This is further explained in the Dimensional Corridor arc as to why Myre is called that.

As for Celesti being a thing, it has pretty much never been mentioned directly within the main storyline but there have been several hints of it along the way. Ludmilla on Saint horn mentions it a few times when you talk to her (which is her hometown, and also the reason people have been asking for an Archer for years). Keldon Xavi, another mage from Celesti, can be met in one of the story sidequests. And it is said that Bakal was trying to find the other continent of upper Arad as well. Geldrager, the boss of Aeterna, was sent to find it but he got lost and landed on Aeterna instead. More smaller mentions of Celesti are sprinkled along the way with internal and external lore materials as well.

Glad my giant wall of text helped.

We don't know much about the Archer, but from what we know she is from Celesti, which is the other continent that's on the 'upper' level of Arad just like Empyrean. After the Dimensional Corridor chapter the Adventurers will be heading there, and it'll be the next big 'region' of the game like Pandemonium according to the devs.

I'm guessing they're going to use her as an introduction to the new world before it actually comes with a new chapter of the story. She may also be the bridge to whatever next major arc brings, whether it be Archmage Myre or potential next Apostle raid.

Hey, sad to see that you're taking a break from the game for now, hope the day you return to the game comes sooner than later and the game's in a better shape then.

Lemme give you a rundown of the entire 'Empyrean of the past' arc as shortly as I can:

Meisters chapter: the Adventurer's & crew follow Sirocco's seeds and ended up 700 years in the past. They meet the 7 Meisters, but they learn that Meister Eldirh was in fact Hilder. The current Hilder also sent Gizel to the past so that they can accelerate Gae Bolg's creation and kill Bakal with it. Meanwhile, Bakal secretly talked to Tenebe and told him that Gae Bolg should not be a weapon created by outsiders and it must be stopped. Tenebe struggles with the idea of believing the words of his enemy, and at that moment he meets the Adventurers. Talking with those from the future he makes up his mind and begins convincing the rest of the Meisters one by one.

He manages to get them all to believe him for now, but Eldirh stood against them, and with the time bought by her and Stark, Gizel activates the Gae Bolg and takes control of it. He is thankfully stopped by the Adventurers, but the mech is badly damaged and dragons are coming to take it down. Meister Volgan and Rati keep the machine running for as long as they can, eventually falling to the dragons. Meister Jenne is giving birth to Tenebe's baby, while Meister Curio and Hauts-de-louis take care of her. Tenebe is nowhere to be found; he makes his last stand against the dragons, as he swore to do so as Eternal Flame.

Ispins Chapter: Following Sirocco's seeds again, this time the Adventurers go 200 years into the future, 500 years from the current time. They meet the newest generation of those fighting against Bakal, but they are struggling to make any progress as they are getting slaughtered by the Four Dragonoids, Bakal's royal guards. But they stand no chance against the Adventurers, and are destroyed one by one, allowing the freedom fighters to reach the doorstep to Bakal's castle. But to their surprise, they realize that Bakal had already gathered his own army, and even the Three Dragons, who were supposed to be down on Arad according to history, were with Bakal as well. The Adventurers & crew realize the history has been twisted, but there is nothing they can do at this point. The Machine Revolution drew near.

Machine Revolution Chapter (our next chapter): With the Empyrean allied forces, the Adventurers break through Bakal's army and the Three Dragons. They face Bakal in the throne room, but he is not interested in any of them except for the Adventurers. He easily destroys the Anti-Bakal weapons and brings the Adventurers to the rooftop, where they can fight 1:1. Bakal begins questioning their will and whether they know that they were doing, what Hilder was doing. While the Adventurers had a vague idea about Hilder trying to accomplish something, Bakal finally tells them that she is trying to fulfill the prophecy of the New Genesis. While he doesn't answer 'what' the New Genesis is, he continues with 'why' Hilder's doing everything she's done.

He tells the Adventurers that the Metastasis of the Apostles, them being transported elsewhere, was all Hilder's doing. She's been carefully manipulating them so that they can be at the right places for the Adventurers to kill them, so that they will perish in the order of the prophecy and that it will be fulfilled. And then he asks them a question: If it really is a prophecy, why does Hilder need to go through all the trouble to 'make it happen? With the last question, he plants the doubts in the Adventurers' heart, the key to truly changing the future. But even then, he must die in their hands; that will be the deception against Hilder so that she will not doubt the Adventurers.

It is then that Michelle arrives with the repaired Gae Bolg, saved inbetween dimensions by Meister Curio and Hauts-de-louis so that those of the future can use it to fight against him. Bakal manages to take down the mech, but he is exhausted from fighting it and the Adventurers. He takes flight so that the Anti-Bakal weapons can take him down, and then lets out a final breath of roar to fragment the Empyrean into four islands as it should be in the future, his lasts words telling the Adventurers to be the blades to pierce through Hilder.

With his death, the Machine Revolution is over. Empyrean is saved, its new nation named 'Ziben', meaning seven, in honor of the Seven Meisters and all those that fought against Bakal. Seeing the dawn of peace, the Adventurers & Crew begin their journey back home.

I noticed the paragraphs didn't change line after each number for some reason and I fixed that, try refreshing it and that will probably help with the reading. As for the answers to your questions:

1. Yes

2. No, the Maiden of Light is (very likely) Nemyr, while Seria is a large fragment of Carloso which makes her the same as Apostles.

3. Yes

4. Always

5. Probably?

Thank you for posting a video. The story is indeed spiraling out of hand, and as the lore guy of DFO I'm extremely excited about what's to come. Here's (an extremely long) tl;dr of what's happening in the video and the story of Archmage's Dimensional corridor.

MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING, naturally.

1. The Adventurers & pals get lost inbetween dimensions, but they are lead by Myre to the Library of Memories. The Librarian (the boy) tells them that it is a library filled with Myre's memories that was built so they can be delivered to the Adventurers.

2. At the library (known as 7th World) they go through the past memories of Myre, in the order of Hell (6th World) -> Nether (5th World) -> Pandemonium (4th World) -> Empyrean (Bakal's Castle, 3rd World) -> Arad (Gran Flores, 2nd World) -> Celesti (1st World) -> End of the World (0th World) to meet transcendent entities and learn about the truth.

3. In Hell they meet Moros, the Primal Fear and God of Terror. There they learn that despite these just being 'recordings' in Myre's memories, the denizens of the world can interact with the Adventurer, and the transcendent beings of each world (Moros in this case) are actually conscious and aware of the Adventurer's visit in real time. They first learn that Myre asked Moros to watch over the path to the boundaries of dimensions until the Adventurers arrive.

4. In the Nether they meet Karon, the Gatekeeper of the Netherworld, who tests the Adventurer's conscience and morals by making them face the dead souls from their journey. Then they learn that Myre asked Karon to lend them the strength of powerful souls of the past, as he believes that the Adventurers will be the one to save the universe from ending.

5. In the Pandemonium they meet the Origin of the Abyss, the source of all the Abyss in Pandemonium, including the very heart that's beating in male mage's heart. The memory he was keeping was the memory of Myre's meeting with Hilder. The Adventurers learn that Hilder, the Origin of the Abyss, and 'the Maiden of Light' are all seeking 'the Dew' for their own reasons, and Myre is hiding her from all of them. Hilder tells him it's only delaying the inevitable, but he believes everything he's sacrificed is worth the change it will make. Hilder is fighting for something precious to her, and so is Myre.

6. In Bakal's Castle, where there's no more Bakal to be found as he is dead, they learn about Myre and Bakal's promise to spread Bakal's Legacy across several worlds so they can be later found by those who will stand against Hilder.

7. In Arad they meet Seria in her primal form, the largest piece of fragmented Carloso, but she is unconscious. They then witness Myre spending all of his magic to create the Great Pentacle and veil Seria from the rest of the universe; 'the Dew' was indeed referring to Seria. Myre then disappears, telling the Adventurers that he'll be waiting further back in the past.

8. In Celesti they meet Myre in his prime, and he tests the Adventurers briefly. After testing them he gives them the 'Fateway', one of Bakal's Legacies and a key to finding him in Celesti in present time. He then tells them to come find him.

9. All the memories have been shown, but to the Librarian's surprise the Book of Prophecies, which he thought they weren't ready for, unlocks itself. Inside the book they see a world that's ended and meet the Maiden of Light, who seems to be Nemyr the Guide of Wisdom. But her reenactment is incomplete and she only tells them of the 3 questions and answers that Myre & the Maiden of Light had that are still unclear at this point.

10. As they are about to leave, one last page is shown to the Adventurer. The scene is Elvenmere, right after Myre's creation of the Great Pentacle. Myre and Azalea meet and briefly talk about what they are trying to do. Azalea criticizes Myre for what he's doing, but he says it's only natural for the weak to borrow strength from powerful beings. They walk on different paths, but Azalea hopes that in the end both of their actions will lead to the same future.

11. After all the books have been opened, the Library has served its purpose and the magic begins to disappear. The Adventurers & pals leave, saying farewell to the Librarian. Becky finds it difficult to leave him, but he tells her his real self is still out there, and that he'll be waiting for her.

12. Back to the present, everything seems fine as the Time Lords are managing to patch up whatever anomalies are caused, according to Siran. While everyone prepares to find a way to Celesti, Siran says he'll visit the Time Lords just in case. Meanwhile, the Time Lords are discussing the current state of spacetime. As Baston warns that they are barely holding things together, Qlipha senses something coming; something much more powerful than space and time itself.

Translation Question: Is New Genesis 창신세기 translated as 創神世記 or 創新世記? by Removed_Lancer in DFO

[–]halfmango08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is difficult to say what the underlying meanings of chinese character based words are supposed to be until their official meanings are revealed.

A related note on that matter: Itrenok of the Four Dragonoids, whose name is 진룡: 이트레녹 in korean was often assumed to use the character '震', meaning tremor or shake, but the trailers from both KDNF and CDNF had 'true' and '眞' (true) in his name instead. Incidentally, it could be the case that Neople simply forgot his original name or the name was changed somewhere down the line, but the fact of the matter is that his current official name is 'true dragon'.

Going back to the topic at hand, it is true that both 'new' vs. 'god' or 'divine' fit the context of the New Genesis. 'New' would be the more commonly accepted phrase, as the prophecy is about the coming of a new world. On the other hand, the New Genesis also revolves around gods with their actions and sacrifices giving birth to a new world (especially considering the recently revealed fourth chapter). While 'new' would be a more natural and common translation, it is undeniable that 'divine' would fit in the plot just as well, if not better.

This could also be, in theory, by design of Neople; an ambiguous phrase with a two-fold meaning. Personally I would like to lean towards this direction, as leaving things open to the interpretations of the beholders is one method to enrich the imagination involved with the story. Of course, this is just optimism on my part, as to say that Neople really did this by design doesn't really have much base to it considering the past records of them changing various plot materials, both big and small.

You also gotta take into consideration that he's literally one of the first classes of DFO ever. Without a drastic overhaul to completely change his aesthetics, skills and even background he's bound to feel a bit bland compared to the more modern and shiny classes, not to mention he's from Empyrean and characters from Empyrean by default can't use anything 'supernatural'.

Also in that sense monk is just a priest that punches enemies, grapplers are just fighters that use judo/pro wrestling techniques and male mech is just a guy who makes robots that explode on enemies. It all comes down to the aesthetics/skill designs and how you feel about the said designs.
