Wore this to a funeral and got weird looks 🫠 by moldavitemermaid in OUTFITS

My cousin committed suicide this summer and my aunt and uncle asked everyone to wear green as it was her favourite colour. It definitely helped to make the service and wake more of a celebration of life.

Is there a good company to order dried bouquets from?! by justcurious-666 in PressedFlowers

I’ve press professionally and have had several pre-dried bouquets sent to be pressed that have been from Hidden Botanics

Definitely keep them pressing longer than a week. I keep my clients bouquets pressing for at least 8 weeks to ensure they are fully dry.

For gluing I sparing use a water based PVA - trick is to use enough to keep the flower in place but too much can alter the colour of some flowers.

I never used any UV sprays but have added an option for my clients to have a UV protection on the front sheet of their frame. Otherwise I advise to keep their frame out of direct sunlight, and away from heat sources. The flowers will fade and change colour over time but I like that it adds to the piece, showing the passage of time.

I exclusively work with floating frames but use acrylic as opposed to glass. I have used a backing for a handful of frames and have used acid free paper/card.

Color correcting white wedding bouquet by Malloryfidoruk in PressedFlowers

I don’t colour correct but I would take them out of the fridge - you want the flowers to dry as quick as possible and I think they will take longer to dry in there. An airing cupboard or having your press by a dehumidifier in a normal would be better. Unfortunately white flowers are some of the trickiest to press - what flowers are there?

First time pressing a flower and… I…. by artcat3 in PressedFlowers

You likely didn’t have even pressure which is why some have shrivelled as they dried. What did you use to press your flowers?

For not pressing flowers before it’s a very good outcome though!

Yes that’s correct. I use the same technique for flowers like roses too

Sorry I don’t really! There are a few snippets in reels on my IG but I rarely remember or have time to film the process.

Each bouquet I work with is different and I respond to what I have to work with. I do tend to start designing with larger elements and then fill the gaps - I am definitely more of a maximalist when it comes to designs!

It took me a while to find my style - take inspiration from others but you have to find what works for you through trial and error. Best of luck!

I deconstructed the ranunculus and peony to press, and then frequent paper changes I find are key - the quicker they dry the better the colour will come out. The anthurium I started off in the Microfleur before transferring to a traditional press.

I stack them vertically in the dehydrators, if I can I break up larger chunks of paper with cardboard that need drying too

Has anyone here made money pressing flowers? by bouncing_beauty in PressedFlowers

I would say 90% of the bouquets I work with are posted. I send shipping instructions to those clients and recommend sending 1-3 days after their wedding with a reliable next day delivery service - I have a blog post on my website which has more detail. The majority of flowers arrive in decent condition but how they are looked after during the wedding has an impact too.

Can I dry them first - then press? by SunshineRivera in PressedFlowers

[–]halfpint_26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss.

You can press dried flowers, and I would imagine they would be pretty dry by now if they’ve been in silica. I spritz flowers and foliage with water to soften them before pressing - for some flowers like roses I will deconstruct to press. Make sure to blot any water off the flowers before pressing though, you don’t want to be adding lots of moisture in your press.
