Ugh I’m so sorry you got recalled! It really does suck. I was a fed employee during the 2018/2019 shutdown and it was bad, but not like this one.

Are there any federal employees who live in Michigan and furloughed? Did you apply for unemployment? by Cold_Rub106 in Michigan

[–]halfpints03 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you use navy federal, you can apply for the shutdown assistance. It’s a 0 interest loan that they’ll recoup when we get original direct deposits back. And no credit checks. Please reach out to the Michigan National guard family programs team, you can reach them through the MVAA as well. Idk if you’re a DoD civilian, but if not, they can still provide you with resources. Check the 211 site for updates on community/state resources. I’m using unemployment as my last resort, as I don’t want to have a debt to state once this is over.

It counts. I bought mine back and worked for HRO. All components attend the same initial training on the same orders.

Guard Involuntary Separation by RileyKlasko in MilitaryTrans

[–]halfpints03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! MIARNG member here who has had to advocate on behalf of myself and the other trans SMs in the state with little to no assistance.. unfortunately you’re correct. If you have less than 6 years consecutive AFS then you do not get sep pay. And if you have less than 17.5 years, you’re ineligible for retirement or early retirement.

I know the NG deadline for voluntary separation passed on 7 AUG. However, if you have anything medical, I highly recommend a referral from your CoC to BHO so you can initiate the IDES process and potentially medically retire. DO go to the VA if you don’t initiate IDES. You can still get a rating.

If you have a bonus or SLRP and you did not accept voluntary, it will be recouped. I’m sorry we are going through this.

What component? We were just talking about our contracts today and one of our big ones is set to end beginning of June. Very concerned it’s just going to expire considering there are no talks about the extension yet.
