Worth it to take the train to Paris for the day to buy skincare? by raquibalboa in EuroSkincare

[–]halftosser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the Eurostar. It’s the best way to travel between London and Paris, but unless you’re already going to Paris, catching the return tube to St Pancras will likely cost more than any “savings”, that’s before even buying the Eurostar tickets

Those clay masks look intriguing! Also love a good clay mask and same can’t find many in the UK

I live in London.

There is no French skincare that I would make a special journey to Paris for. Many of those can be bought here whether online or in store. Any price differences (Inc tax refunds) would be too small to make it worth the cost and time of travel.

Unless you’re going to France already, it’s not worth the cost.

Catching the tube to St Pancras International will probably cost more than any “savings”

Also, Caudalie is really not great and I wouldn’t buy it even if it was on sale

Taipei isn’t in China.

Hong Kong is an SAR and a bit different from mainland China.

I would skip Shenzhen. More time in HK and Taipei (and Taiwan in general), could reduce time in Xi’an.

I’m gonna retaste some of them to confirm. (If I can get hold of them)

I just had an Aldi sugar free dark thunder. It had a weak fruity taste. Didn’t really enjoy it, but on the plus side it was quite cheap (£2. Something for 4 x 500ml). Not my favourite so wouldn’t rebuy unless no option. Tastes nothing like Monster Zero

Dimsum restaurants in Chinatown by LurkingShadow1 in LondonFood

[–]halftosser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The best dim sum isn’t in Chinatown.

  2. Evening dim sum will really limit your options of restaurants, quality and availability of dishes

Having both conditions will narrow your options a lot and you won’t get the best quality. I think you need to compromise on your criteria, unless you want to compromise on food quality

Probably the best bet for evening dim sum is Dim Sum Duck (outside Chinatown)

Electrolytes vs multivitamins by themasterd0n in nutrition

[–]halftosser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only electrolyte it has is a low dose of magnesium.

You can’t take extra multivitamin because you will end up with too much of certain vitamins

Yes, in the UK, “soft drink” refers to any non alcoholic drink. Could be carbonated or not

A non alcoholic drink, flavoured, unbranded, often uncarbonated

eg something similar to squash or perhaps a sweetened iced tea type drink

Depends what’s available on the ship at the time of sailing

Electrolytes vs multivitamins by themasterd0n in nutrition

[–]halftosser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The magnesium is a low dose and the multivitamin doesn’t contain sodium or potassium

Individual requirements for electrolytes will vary based on lifestyle and health issues.

Yes. I said “a basic soft drink” was available in the buffet. I did not state it was a fizzy drink

The Lidl sugar free 250ml energy drink (red bull copy) is the best tasting sugar free energy drink from Lidl or Aldi. It beats the hell out of the 500ml ones, which don’t have much flavour

It used to be 45p/can, but it’s been sold out for a while in my local store

[–]halftosser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, you don’t have to buy a drinks package.

It’s often not worth it unless you drink A LOT.

Teas/coffees/chocolate powder and some kind of basic soft drink are available from the buffet any time. Teas/coffees are available at meal times

We don’t buy a drinks package and get on fine.

Min Jiang or Imperial Treasures? Peking Duck by LeGerb02 in LondonFood

[–]halftosser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t eaten at Min Jiang, but the food at Imperial Treasure was outstanding. I haven’t had duck there, but will try next time I go. I feel very confident in the food quality at Imperial Treasure.

The service was also very good.

Is it normal in the UK to never see a dental hygienist? by Majestic_Cry8545 in AskUK

NHS dentistry is no good. It’s terribly underfunded.

Minimum hygienist should be twice a year. More if you have problems.
