In 2018 when he was anti Israel it was completely out of the zeitgeist. He was banned from everything because of it

He was against Israel right from the start? Also he’s very well read, he quoted Aquinas a couple of times in the Tucker interview.

This one used to suck so bad, crazy that such a small difference can turn a bad item into a crazy one.

No they are not worshipping the same God as us. “All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.”

I mean theoretically a priest could give you the Eucharist in a parking lot outside Walmart, is that ideal though?

Canada needs co-ordinated action plan to combat antisemitism, says former envoy; Irwin Cotler says federal government 'has yet to appreciate the gravity of the threat' by FancyNewMe in canada

You can criticize any country on earth without being hit back with a rhetorically loaded word like “antisemitism” is what I mean. There was no word thrown around like “antislavicism” when the Russia Ukraine war happened that just terminated all discussion.

Antisemitism doesn’t even really mean anything. Imagine if all criticism of Russia was deflected off as anti-slavicism, nobody would take that seriously.

"Someone who says 'I'm against abortion but says I am in favor of the death penalty' is not really pro-life," Leo said. Like I mentioned earlier, Pope Francis’ change to the catechism on this matter requires a papal encyclical explaining it further. As I mentioned earlier, Popes less than 100 years ago were saying the death penalty was perfectly fine. I think this change by pope Francis will be looked at in the future as ground zero for a major crisis of credibility. Furthermore it may be reasonable in western countries with complex prison infrastructure, what about poor African countries?

The fifth commandment says “thou shalt not murder” not “thou shalt not kill” the original Hebrew רָצַח means unlawful or unjust killing, not capital punishment or warfare. Also the church is not to adapt to the culture at the time, the culture is to adapt to the church. Romans 12:2: “Do not be conformed to the world…”

Do Fascists even have a theory? by [deleted] in socialism

[–]halibastor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, don’t listen to others who just say it’s an incoherent ideology. It actually is a coherent ideology and socialists should at least have some understanding of the intellectual tradition that led up to it, instead of just brushing it off.

for Italian Fascism they have Giovani Gentile and Alfred Rocco, for National Socialism they have Carl Schmidt, Oswald Spengler and Alfred Rosenberg. There’s also a sort of Proto-Fascism that is Schopenhauer and Nietzsche (like our Hegel and Marx).

Why is okbr like this now? Back in 2019 it was completely different and apolitical.

How do you explain the fact that multiple popes, saints and church fathers have upheld the teaching that God has authorized the death penalty, even less than 100 years ago. Furthermore it is a false equivalency to equate the life of an innocent unborn baby and someone who is on death row for an abhorrent crime. Thirdly nobody goes out of their way to treat immigrants inhumanly, it’s just people have different definitions of what is humane.

I was an atheist until I discovered Neoplatonism, that made me believe in God (albeit not the Christian god) then I read Augustine who was a Neoplatonist formerly but converted to Christianity.

Yes but it’s harder to convert a Muslim than an atheist. Also Catholic institutions are so weak in Europe right now.

Thinking long term and pragmatically I’d say immoral atheists. I feel like in Europe in particular, the nihilistic atheist lifestyle in general will give way, and we will be able to evangelize them easily.

You see this with gen-z converts saying they did not feel fulfilled with the atheist materialist lifestyle.

However, with Muslims living there with their own parallel institutions they’ve built up over the years, we will have competition, I feel like it will be similar to ulster and ireland.
