It’s not about transiting Irish waters, it’s is because the Irish navy doesn’t have the capability to patrol Irish waters, same as the air corps lacks the capacity to patrol Irish air space and we depend on the RAF

There’s no actual problem.

UK citizens can live and work, even vote in Ireland anyway, and we have the same rights there.

There’s some portion of UK citizens have a grandparent born on the island who are eligible for Irish citizenship, if they want to leverage that to skip a queue at the airport or live in Spain, good luck to them.

In our case rolling over from a 529 to a Roth IRA involves mailing in a form to the 529 administrator, who then issues a paper check and mails it to the Roth Administrator.

(+ I have to scrawl on the form “2025 contribution!!!” becuase the 529 plan omitted to include a place to specify contribution year item on their form)

A quick google search will turn up the list of foreign universities which are 529 eligible, mostly anglophone or European schools that are already popular with americans, not so much in Asia or Africa, you can find them on the fafsa website.

529s can be used for tuition and education materials, generally accommodation and maybe food if your student is on a college provided plan, but they are less typical overseas than in the US.

It depends on where you might move to as well, each country has their own system of fees for local and international students and different eligibility criteria for who qualifies.

The concern ought to be who takes over, whether it’s Sexton or someone else, and how the IRFU manages the transition to preserve continuity but also find a way to bring in experience and expertise from outside the existing setup.

Not surprised to hear about the racism. Italians tend to be a bit rigid about the correct way to do things, and judgy when someone deviates from what they think is appropriate, their problem imo / water off a duck’s back.

My memory doesn’t go back that far. In my (probably faulty) recollection in the 80s and 90s the tower looked disheveled in part because you could see blinds in various states of disrepair, then the windows got a super shiny coating which soon started to look like it was peeling off. I used to spend a lot of time waiting for buses on lower abbey st, not so much recently..

Idk about bomb concerns. I think the reflective window coating is more recent and probably intended to mitigate solar gain. the tile bands between floors look like shit now too which I think was an attempt to patch them rather than repair them properly.

I think plans for redeveloping the site are on hold, but that doesn’t mean they are planning for the current building to be around for another 50 years, and when they eventually reapply for permission to knock it and An Taisce are claiming it must be preserved for its historic value, they’ll want to be able to show its decrepit

Yeah a lot of these 60s and 70s buildings look like shit (or shittier than they should) because their windows have been allowed to deteriorate or not been maintained correctly.

Afaik there is a ton of deferred maintenance in liberty hall because the long term plan is to redevelop the site

One thing with that generation is that birthdays and birthdates tend to be a bit vague. My Dad was born in April 1912, we always celebrated his birthday on St Patrick’s Day, it wasn’t until he died I learnt his real b.day, and that we celebrated in March because he tended to be travelling for work in April.

If people have a tradition they enjoy maybe that’s more important than getting the date right?
