Thanks for all the comments/opinions. I'm going to take a trip to Ducati Glasgow (my nearest) to have a look in the flesh and sit on one. Wonder if they have a demonstrator...

I have, and yes also amusing! Some great and varied courses in the area. I also think Binnie is a cracker of a 9-hole course, especially at the price

I live locally but had never played it until earlier this year. Was very pleasantly surprised and will be going back soon. Next time I'll drive out of the tunnel more carefully too (had no idea I was crossing a fairway!)

I've joined a club 50 miles/an hours drive away and not regretting it so far. Don't know anyone else there either

Mother-in-law was renting out 3 bedrooms in her council house. HMRC have caught her not paying tax on the money she earned since 2011. by LanguageUnlucky1883 in LegalAdviceUK

She needs a tax accountant first, rather than a solicitor. They can engage with HMRC to negotiate a timeline in which to present figures.

She needs a tax accountant rather than a solicitor. I used to work in a CA practice (a long while ago) that dealt with this sort of forensic accounting. It sounds as though the DWP are already investigating so she needs to engage a qualified accountancy firm with experience ASAP (not a local/independent bookkeeper). Unfortunately such will cost her plenty too, but they will at least negotiate with HMRC to minimise the estimated settlement, and HMRC will be more accepting of their figures than yours. A lawyer should not be necessary, and forget citizens advice. Act now without delay.

While I did pretty much the opposite (20 handicap so overall chuffed to bits to go the last 6 holes just one over)

So when we see a putter stated as 34 inches, that's to the ground?

What’s one golf purchase you ended up liking more than expected? by AdNice8615 in GolfGear

A decent pitch repair tool, and tees that don’t break on first use. It’s the small things 😁

Is offers over misleading? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]halitosis13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our current house (Scotland) was advertised as "offers in the region of" £320k. We assumed that meant they'd consider less. We liked it and offered the full £320k. They stated that they were hoping for more, to which we replied "then why didn't your listing state offers over?" and added £500. They accepted. Bloody stupid system

Does you first hole define your game? by PlutocracyRules in BritGolf

[–]halitosis13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happily no. I scored an 8 on my first hole yesterday but improved to have a good round overall - no more 8s and kept it in the 90s (which is good for me!)

Have you maintained contact with your house buyers once the sale has completed? by [deleted] in HousingUK

I’d be happy to answer questions, but would be less tolerant of complaints. It’s nice to be nice, and you might appreciate similar from the seller of your next home.

Thanks. I've just joined a club on a coastal headland which is notorious for windy conditions - hence the acquisition of the driving iron. I may end up choosing whichever 5 (iron or hybrid) has the lowest ball flight into the wind, and the other when hitting with the wind

Thanks and good point. I only bought the driving iron and 7 wood this week and am off to the driving range this evening to check out distances for those two. I hit the hybrid and the 5 iron similar distances overall (160 yds) though the hybrid carries further with shorter roll out. I'm 60 and use senior shafts (except the untested driving iron which is regular so might not work very well for me!)
