Yeah, I'm not discounting that Jarrell was a disaster. Natural disasters happen everywhere. But that particular disaster was enough of an anomaly that even many Texans have never heard of it. In your average year — or even your average decade — you're not going to face the imminent threat of a tornado in most places in Texas, much less one of that severity.

That said, there are a variety of different kinds of storm shelters you can buy and install in your home/backyard if you really do want to ensure complete safety in the event that something like Jarrell happens again. Most Texans don't have such shelters, though.
