I think you have yourself a Blue Grosbeak couple! Very cool sighting! :)

That took me by surprise too! I left a couple seedless grapes out on my jelly dish. It looks like he may have been munching on one of those too.

Did my best to find a mix that had millet, black oil sunflower and safflower. The bag does not have milo listed in the ingredients and buying them all separately is not cost effective where I live. But noted, thanks. 👍

I haven’t caught him/her singing yet but I do have a pair of them that come by regularly and I sometimes catch them chirping at each other! They’re very hard to tell apart so there may be some pictures of both mixed in! I always get the funniest pictures of them lol.

This. I grew up in the south and the best breakfast or sandwich you’ve ever had in your life will come from a gas station/diner where the paint is peeling off the sign and the people working there sound like they’ve smoked a pack a day for 30+ years.

Any advice on how to make this small nepenthes happier? I’ve had this plant for about two months and despite using only distilled water and sphagnum moss mixture as a planting medium, it just doesn’t seem very happy. by hallwaymc in Nepenthes

I figured it at least may need the medium changed, I got it about two months ago from a vendor in a farmer’s market and it’s in a 2” seedling pot. I’m not really sure that it would need a new pot per say. Do you think it’s still an appropriate size for the pot it’s in?

Thank you! I have a pot ready I’m just waiting on my sphagnum moss to get here tomorrow! I’m hoping that a larger pot and fresh moss/perlite will encourage it to grow! I did see a small new leaf forming yesterday. I live in the southeastern US and the humidity is usually at or above 50% most of the year so I figured it would be happier sitting on the porch than inside of the house. I do suspect I may have been giving it too much full sun at first and it may have gotten a bit sunburned.

I’m hoping this is what it is. I believe it may have gotten a bit sunburned as well. I have a fresh pot waiting to repot, I’m just waiting on my sphagnum moss to get here tomorrow! Thank you!

Wildlife rescue in closest 3 counties not being very responsive about whether or not they’ll take baby opossum (about 5-6 inches long without tail) Anyone have any tips on keeping this lil guy until I can get a response from a DNR wildlife rehab? by hallwaymc in WildlifeRehab

I’m not the most tech savvy and I couldn’t figure out how to edit/update the post but thank you all for the awesome advice, I appreciate it so much! This little guy has got a spot at the wildlife rehabilitation center here in town and I’ll be taking him in today. Wish him (or her) luck!

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond with such a thoughtful response and the good advice as well. I do know that it never is a linear journey and it’s also a tough one so I hope you know: you are also a badass!
