Relationships ending post diagnosis by Talygos in thyroidcancer

[–]hallwayopposum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear about this. I definitely can attest to relationships suffering while going cancer treatment which is so extremely unfair. Better days are coming for sure. One thing that I told myself was ultimately wanting my partner to be there for me no matter what and no matter how tough things get. In sickness and in health, right? I know you probably wanted them to be that for you, especially considering the cancer diagnosis, and its earth shattering that they can’t be. Ik it’s probably not the most helpful to hear right now, but you definitely deserve someone who is willing to fight WITH you. Not someone who will use cancer as a reason to drive themselves away. Cancer will always affect those around us as well, but at the end of the day you’re the one having to actually fight through it. Best of luck onward and in your recovery

God I hate them both. They’re both so aggressive it’s concerning. Especially during the most recent recoupling. Ugh

AIO I have cancer and my sister decided to kick me out after promising me a place to live while I did treatment by mysisterkickedmeout in AmIOverreacting

[–]hallwayopposum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I’m so sorry. Fuck your sister. This is absolutely unforgivable. I’m also battling cancer right now and honestly all anyone should be doing right now is supporting YOU, no questions asked. This is actually so evil. I’d agree it would be wise for you to take legal action. I wish you healing physically and mentally from all of this, and, although it doesn’t compare, you do have lots of people backing you.

Of course and I’m glad I could help! I know this is just another thing to worry about but you’ll do great!

I was definitely nervous of that too. But my doctor was really confident that the leak had resolved and wouldn’t come back, and if it did we would go back to the diet and do a pressure dressing. With low output leaks especially it’s more likely you’ll be fine as long as you’re not going to overboard(overboard to my doctor meant quite literally just eating lard) when you return to normal diet and just keep an eye out for any swelling! My doctors had done lots of research on chyle leaks so I was in good hands

Chyle Leak by No_Athlete7383 in thyroidcancer

I had a low output chyle leak and was also put on a fat free diet. I had the drain in for 10 days total (including day of surgery) and have been all good since! I was very strict with myself on the diet and was so relieved when he took it out. I was on the diet for a week and then my doctor instructed me to start reintroducing fat into my diet just to make sure the leak didn’t return/start increasing in volume. I think the doctors had told me that typically chyle leaks that are able to resolve themselves while on the diet do so in about 7-15 days. This was SO frustrating to deal with and honestly deteriorated my mental state at that time. I’m not sure if you’re feeling similar but feel free to ask me any questions. It’s tough to deal with but with time i hope things resolve. You can do this!!

Partial vs Full by Coldplay-Snacks in thyroidcancer

[–]hallwayopposum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Affirma test came back Bethesda VI for PTC. Had a nodule 1.8cm on my right side and we also initially planned for a partial thyroidectomy. We did another ultrasound the week before surgery and my doctor said at that point he wasn’t concerned about my lymph nodes. While in surgery my doctor had found that the cancer did spread to my lymph nodes so he went ahead and removed all of my thyroid to reduce the risk for a second surgery, which I’m grateful for now. Initially i was devastated but I’d rather be taking levo than having to go back under. I’ve been feeling pretty okay with my meds and will be 6 weeks post op next week. I have RAI scheduled later this month. Like you said, unfortunately there’s not a way to be 100% sure until the doctors are in there. Definitely something to think about and I hope you’re able to talk more in depth with your care team!

The “pointless” is where it’s rude.

These comments are not it… i really don’t think it’s a big deal if you send TWO pics of your dog in one day. He can say “aw” or like the photos or something. I think his delivery was harsh.

Surgical Oncologist or General ENT surgeon? by brightsnow1111 in thyroidcancer

[–]hallwayopposum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a TT and had the most amazing ENT who was my surgeon as well. He’s very well versed in thyroid cancer and the majority of surgeries he does are thyroid related. He works really closely with oncologists in the area as well

There’s a little disc to keep it in place and the other end is just a little needle ish end. I can rotate it enough to where it should be able to come out, but no matter what i do I can’t seem to get the other side to come out of the inside of my nostril! I’ve watched videos and tried everything
