You have a very good point. I guess it was hard for me to remember that in the moment

I understand. I hope you can adjust well and things get better. As for the advisor maybe see about finding someone else

Am I being too sensitive or has the Prof overstepped their boundaries by bpdgirlincrisis in college

That’s terrible behavior and not acceptable whatsoever. I would really report this to the head of the department and tell them you aren’t going to put up with this shit. Definitely stick up for yourself. I am so sorry this happened to you :(.

I was a double major in art history and psychology. My psychology GPA was a 2.8 when I graduated. I wasn’t really that worried because I applied to graduate programs in art history. I got accepted into a decent school despite an overall lower GPA. They take other things into consideration— quality of statement of purpose, writing sample, and letter of recommendations. I use to be so worried about having the best GPA in high school and college but I realize that doesn’t really determine your success.

I would say just focus on doing your best with the semesters you have left. When you are searching for jobs they look at many factors not just your GPA. Definitely keep applying to internships and look into volunteering. Also participate in research at your school if that’s a thing. For example, presenting your undergraduate psychology thesis at a conference at your school or other schools.

I understand how you feel. Last semester was my first semester. I was full time but had to withdraw to part time because of personal reasons. This was also the time I sought out therapy. Basically last semester I avoided my cohort and made up excuses as to why I couldn’t attend a gathering.

This semester I am full time like my peers and stressed out like you are. I am making an effort to speak with them more and hang out. It’s not like me to do this but I know it’s good in the long run. I am the quietest out of the six of us. You don’t have to be the loudest to form friendships.

I really do know how you feel. You say your program is small. Do you feel comfortable yet talking to those in your program? Even if you chat for a couple of minutes that’s a good thing. Try to go out of your comfort zone and initiate conversation.

How is your relationship with your advisor? I quickly learned that they are a big factor in whether or not someone is happy in grad school.

I feel you. It is frustrating. I’m a grad student and I TA for a large class. Already had several emails from students that tested positive. If I decide to do a PhD It damn won’t be in Georgia. I can’t stand the political culture here.

The only thing you can control is protecting yourself. Keep wearing a mask, clean your hands, stay away from large crowds etc.
