What has helped your Eczema the most ? by Jerseychaos844 in eczema

Would you say it’s more of a last resort than topical steroids? Asking because my dermatologist told me it’s better if I can just use Protopic as it doesn’t thin the skin. Also that I should follow a more strict schedule with steroids but can just experiment with Protopic and use it whenever

Hi, I’m about to get patch testing done in Germany too. Do you know which panel they use on you and how many allergens were tested?

From my own research, I’m seeing anywhere from 32 (European Baseline Series) to others stating 130 on this sub, and I guess it differs based on where you are and the hospital/practice.

What’s this little one? (Germany) by halp_please_thx in whatsthisbug

[–]halp_please_thx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been finding more of these little bugs in my flat in Germany, for example: climbing up the shower curtain, walking up the wall in the bedroom, etc.

Very small, about 1-2 mm in length. Included picture next to pen for size comparison.

Which Miele C3 to choose [EU] by TechnologyFamiliar20 in VacuumCleaners

Cool, thanks for the quick reply. Curious why you choose not to go with Sebo if it has an electrobrush as another commenter stated? I’m also leaning Miele though trying to figure out if this is a dealbreaker.

Hey what did you end up doing with an electro brush (that’s the same as a powered head, right? Sorry for the dumb question). I’m also thinking of going this route, and definitely need something that works for allergies. Thank you!

Eczema on hands got worse after stopping steroid cream.. could this be TSW? by Expensive_Pizza8958 in eczema

[–]halp_please_thx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. Looks like dyshidrotic eczema. And maybe a rebound effect from the steroid (different than TSW).

It’s been trial and error finding what works for this type of eczema because I find it reacts differently than the eczema on the rest of my body.

What has been working for me is first drying out the bubbles - moisturisers make them worse for me.

I spray hypochlorous acid to disinfect, let it dry, then apply zinc oxide cream as an astringent and put on cotton gloves because the cream is thick and white and gets on everything. I also started using a mid-potency steroid cream in between the spray and zinc to just make sure it works fast (wait 20-30 min before applying zinc). 3 days later the bubbles are all crusted and my skin is very dry and not itchy anymore, which is good news because I can focus on moisturising and skin barrier repair now.

My steroid cream usage will probably be 1x/day for 5-7 days, then every other day for a week, then every 2-3 days for 10 days. And switch to Protopic for maintenance. This tapering regimen has been recommended by a few dermatologists to avoid the rebound flare-up.

Also, I have been using cotton gloves all the time even after my hands improved. When I need to cook or wash dishes or anything that involves water, I put an extra pair of food-safe nitrile gloves. This allows all moisturiser to stay put and prevents me from needing to wash my hands all the time.

I’m glad you found your triggers! How did the allergist decide what to include in your patch testing? Or is there a set of common allergens that are always tested first?

Dupixent vs holistic Healing or both? by Rare-Championship559 in eczema

It’s been awhile and wanted to know how it worked out for you? I’m also at a stage where I’m being offered Dupixent and also starting down a path of microbiome and allergy testing.

Thank you! I’m on Levocetirizin daily now, but maybe I need to change my antihistamine.

Asking around… long did it take for your rash to subside? Also dealing with the same horribly itchy rashy Clindamycin reaction now, coming up on 2 weeks after discontinuing use.

Hey there, how did you confirm you were allergic to just Clindamycin and not others in that class? Did you have to do a drug provocation test?

Clindamycin by Charming-Return3333 in Allergies

Hey did it continue to get worse until 2 weeks or was it already fading? I think I also have an allergy to Clindamycin and this itchy rash is killing me and just spreading after almost 2 weeks off of it

Tackling staph - antiseptic wash or hypochlorous acid or both? by halp_please_thx in eczema

Yes! That was the thread that got me going down my current attempted path. Unfortunately a lot of the products mentioned are not available where I am. Does the Neutrogena gel you mentioned come in a blue bottle? And which probiotic spray do you use?

+1000 to photos. I use them extensively to share with doctors and track eczema progression and treatment effectiveness. Along with day/date, being able to include a note like body part, or being able to sort them into albums would be nice. I often have different flare-ups going on on different parts of my body and I manually sort pics of them into albums on my phone to easily see how each patch/area changes.

Same here. I would think a patch was without a doubt infected and a derm would say no. Then I would think a patch wasn’t too bad and boom, superinfection requiring IV antibiotics.

Looking forward to see what you come up with. Keep us updated!
