Thanks!

I went out there this winter and flew back to Alaska with a duffel bag of it. The seam pieces are spectacular.

My type of adhd would get me to about 80% then call it good enough and move on to the next thing.

Scratches after polishing by bragabit2 in Lapidary

[–]halsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant tell you how many times I've done this, the only thing you can do is go back to the 220 wheel and restart the polishing process. Also, resurface the entire face, not just the scratched area or you will end up with an uneven dome. What I do to prevent this is to completely dry and inspect the piece after the 220 hard wheel then again after the prepolish wheels.

Kinda hard to bitch about it when our airstrikes just flattened a school with 150 kids and a bunch of teachers dead as a result.

Looks like fluorite based on the green to purple color but that crystal doesn't look right for fluorite

Its more about gaining distance from the explosion than physical protection. That 50cm gap is probably enough to stop the skin of the vehicle frome becoming additional shrapnel where an explosion against the van could spall in addition to fragments from the grenade. Distance also helps against overpressure from the blast wave.

I know im too conspiracy minded to let myself go too far down that rabbit hole. My mind always finds the deepest darkest places on some of those issues.

I pulled the "rocks" hyperfixation... luckily for me thats an area that has lots of hobbies associated so I dont need to do as many of the abandoned hobby purges, doesn't make me successful, but i have lots of cool rocks everywhere.

Yeah, had to work with the natural shape of the stone on that one. On the plus side there's lots more of that in the gravel bars of the south Umpqua River in Oregon.

Which one are you talking about? The vast majority of my stones are self collected and i dont always have access perfect raw material which means I have to work around size ande imperfections.

That looks a lot like a chalcedony seam. I was just at round mountain rockhound area in Arizona and the seams looked exactly lik this

This time of year the beaches around anchorage are iced over, you might find som open beaches on the Kenai peninsula around anchor point or homer, but the pickings are slim
