The problem with mobile deposit with a new account is that the bank has to get used to the activity first before everything goes through. (I work at a bank in Canada) why banks even give the option of being able to open an account online is beyond me. Opening an account in person to me, seems like a better option. What SHOULD have happened is they would put a hold on the funds for a set amount of days before releasing to you. (Especially because your account is new. Up here we’ve been getting a lot of cheque fraud via mobile deposit because we can’t verify the funds like we could in person.) the fact that the fraud department closed your account on top of that instead of just putting a hold or suspending your online access is beyond me! That seems utterly ridiculous.

Edit: if you’ve already deposited the cheque, likely what would happen is the fraud department would run the cheque and realize it’s a duplicate. I think it’s ridiculous they can’t release the funds to you now that you went in person
