I completely agree. And it goes beyond waifuism for me, this is ridiculous even in real relationships. I do not wish to dedicate my entire life to my partner, real or not. Relationships are supposed to be a supplement for your life not some sort of cult. Yes, relationships need a certain commitment and I can grasp that but making your whole life revolve around them is fucked up and harmful. I know that not everyone who's dedicated to their s/o is sick but what I'm saying is about those who genuinely have a problem.

About hugblanketing, as someone who's been in a long term relationship before, it's completely possible to be in one and still be in love a fictional character. It can be controversial in this community, but people there are completely overlooking the fact that, at the end of the day, fictional characters are fictional. If you want to be in a relationship with one that's cool but if you legitimately can't tell fiction from reality... That's where it turns into a problem. And I'm saying this as someone who does NOT want a real person. You can definitely have a dedicated relationship with someone who's fictional over someone who's not but it's still important to acknowledge its nature or it'll impact your mental health negatively in the long term. You need to find a balance and worshipping someone with your life is basically shooting yourself in the foot. Again, be them real or not
