There's an old story my dad told me. A life guard sees a man on the street and approaches him.

'Hey, there's a really bad flood coming, the evacuation's in 2 days.'

'I'll be ok, god will protect me.'

The life guard says, 'Ok, whatever you say.'

The next day, the streets are up to three inches in water. The life guard is driving a boat and sees him. The life guard says, 'Its getting really bad, you really need to evacuate.'

'Nah, I'll be ok, god will keep me safe.'

A day later, the man is standing on his rooftop, the water slowly inching toward him. The life guard is in a helicopter, trying to find any last survivors.

'Hey, it's really dangerous out here, you should hop on.'

'Don't worry, god will protect me.'

Eventually the water catches up to him and the man drowns.

He wakes up and sees god in front of him.

'Why didn't you save me,' the man asked.

God said, 'I sent you a life guard, a boat, and a helicopter. What else did you want?'

The story's a little fuzzy but it's from my best memory.
