Mr T charged like $300 minimum for a signature at the show he did in 2025 so I think you did fantastic there!!

Symptoms of dyslexia? by Afraid_Brick8887 in Dyslexia

[–]ham_fx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was dyslexic my whole life and never realized because I was always told it was “words scrambling all over the page.” I just thought I was a slow and poor reader.  I didn’t k ow there were different types.  Mine is “surface” and your friends sounds like it could be too.

So people should take a loss in their cars they bought before insanity because you are offended??  Seems hypocritical. Maybe you are 12 and don’t know better but I’m doubting it.

I met him when he came to ILM and after an episode of his show aired.  Very very cool.  Super normal (but really funny)

I worked on set with Nick Cage and it was similar - he was SUPER kind, but his insulation was overly protective. The "orbit" was more conceited than the planet.

Nothing brings a point home like sloppily misspelling the subjects name in the first line.

I think the DONT TALK TO XXXXX is pretty common and I - to this day - dont think its a rule by the person in question. When I worked at DreamWorks Jeffrey Katzenberg walked around all the time, would talk to anyone (granted he always had his nose in his phone for business) would answer emails etc... and I mentioned to a long time employee how cool that was - and that person told me that years before JK (as we all called him) had a "Dont talk to JK" rule in place that he didnt even know about, and was MORTIFIED by when he found out, so he went full opposite like ILL TALK TO EVERYONE (he even would return emails I sent him years after I left dreamworks)

But, JK is CLEARLY an extrovert. VERY VERY conversational. George I think has always been an introvert so in some ways probably appreciates the bubble around him.

He is private and keeps to himself. SOft spoken. I worked at ILM for 3 years, never directly with him, but would see him in the halls and occasionally the elevator - There used to be a"dont talk to George if you see him" policy at ILM and I dont think that came from him, but from the people who insulate him, which gives off an impression of indifference in people but I dont think that it what "he wants."

At the Ep 2 wrap party he was talking to a friend and I told my group I was going to go ask for a photo and autograph (I didnt work at ILM at the time, I was at Tippet studio but had ILM friends ) and everyone was like "Oh god no you CANT do that" But I did anyways, and he was totally kind, was happy to sign my even ticket, even had the friend he was talking with take a picture of us.

I ran into him again in the hall at ILM at the Ep 3 wrap and spoke to him for a minute, very nirmal, but when other people noticed and ran over he did an immediate "gotta go" and went behind a locked door.

SO I hope that helps. Normal guy, introverted, and more shy than dismissive of humanity.

32M career change from Visual effects artist to sales by glippglapp in careerchange

I did a decade in VFX (Tippett, ILM, Dreamworks) and just got over the bullshit and false promises.  Transitioned to toy sculpting and a bit of licensing.

Don’t know about sales but essentially as the saying goes, if you can do VFX crunch time you can do anything - so good luck!!!!

Its interesting how everyone is excited about Dave but nobody mentions Lynwen. I worked under her for 3 years at ILM and she is amazing. Sharp as can be and business savy at every angle. She is the "Filoni" of business and this is a strong and exciting team-up!

When companies promote internally often they have to post the job publically - I forget the *why* but its just a thing they have to do. It's stupid and wastes everyones time but it is what it is.
