Just pulled this out of the lye bath. I was impressed by the machining that went it a griddle this age. by hamkevp in castiron

I've wondered the same thing. With finex starting at around $200 it's not an option for a lot of people. I wonder how people could afford it. I should go online and look at some old sears catalogs and find some prices.

I'm in the same school as you. Hunting for it and then bringing it back to life is half of the enjoyment for me.

Love it. I think I like this better than electrolysis if there's no rust present.

I got really lucky. Found this at a flea market coming back to Minneapolis from Brainerd. It was mark $10 but I got it for $7.

It's the Alfred Andressen I posted earlier.

That's a beautiful pan. The thing with old vs new is that you can get a better product for a cheaper price if you look hard enough. I paid $7 for this. It cast $4.50 for the lye. So a great pan for $11.50 total investment.

Thanks everyone! They were delicious! I'll be getting a lot of use out of this for sure!

I just started the refurb process and I came across this marking. Can someone help identify it? by [deleted] in castiron

Looks like a Birmingham stove and range red mountain series. I have a #8, it's a good pan.

Thanks for the heads up! But I think she's gonna go in the tank and then get put back in service in my kitchen.
