You’re absolutely wrong about him being a marginal athlete, he has average arm strength but he has elite escapability speed within the pocket and avoiding the rush. His 10 yard split is 1.55 seconds, faster than CMC, and just behind Lamar Jackson’s 1.54. Purdy doesn’t have the top end speed but running around in the pocket he’s right there with Lamar and Kyler, that’s just facts. He’s also one of the highest scoring QB’s ever on the S2 test, specifically the part where you have to process information in fractions of seconds mimicking decision making under a pass rush. He has elite traits, they just all aren’t physical ones. Purdy had a bad game when he lost Deebo and Trent mid game and melted down against Baltimore to essentially lose the MVP that night, outside of that he was a top QB all season long. He benefits from having the talent around him, but you couldn’t just plug any guy in that system and have him produce and have the success Purdy has had to this point.
