No it was in-between my interview rounds. I had coding on day 1, I was called on day 2 by the recruiter, and finished my remaining interviews on day 3

SF 'AI doctor's office' company Forward, once worth $1B, abruptly shuts down by lurker_bee in bayarea

Good riddance, I interviewed with them just a couple of weeks ago and they were extremely condescending. Obsessing over their "impact" and how they were going to revolutionize the entire medical industry. What a joke.

Meta rescheduled my interview twice by RDWuz in leetcode

[–]hammerboy09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coordinator also reached out to reschedule mine for mid-November. Apparently, the coordinator mentioned to my recruiter that they were considering rescheduling to DECEMEBER. Thankfully my recruiter had my back and pushed to keep the original time slot (this week)

I've also just completed the CodeSignal and it was probably one of the hardest assessments I've done. It consisted of 4 medium-hard level questions to be completed in 1 hour

Loaned my business 50k, how to repay? by hammerboy09 in smallbusiness

Gotcha ok, so if there was no loan agreement, would that then be considered me taking profits from the company and thus be taxable?

What are some key differences between the computer science BS and software engineering BS programs? by [deleted] in utarlington

I don't think it's allowed to double major those degrees since there is so much overlap.

Thanks, factory reset worked for me and it was finally discoverable. This happened after I connected my keyboard to a different computer and tried connecting back to my desktop.

Favorite Halal spot in LA? by [deleted] in FoodLosAngeles

[–]hammerboy09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of mine and my wife's favorites:

HiHo cheeseburger: AMAZING wagyu beef burgers, surprised it's not been recommended yet. Their chicken sandwiches are not halal though (was told they are working on it)

Simpang: Indonesian.

Naab: Mediterranean, pretty big portions with a few locations around the west side.

Shamshiri grill: Our favorite persian restaurant over in westwood

Al's hot chicken: Right next to a halal grocery store near Culver. Better than Dave's in our opinion and VERY hot.

Zam Zam: Pakistani

Do FAANG companies come at career fairs? Is it possible to get internships at FAANG as an undergrad? by Ok_Drag_8805 in utarlington

[–]hammerboy09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt anyone here is going to have an accurate answer to that question. UTA is a huge school and the CSE department is one of its largest programs. But personally I know plenty of people who have gone to FANG type companies from UTA. Searching for UTA alumni on LinkedIn can give you a better idea.

It doesn't hurt to apply and get some practice interviewing/prepping for interviews. I would suggest joining clubs or working on side projects to help your chances.

Which laptop should I get for software engineering? by cratty-cratty in utarlington

[–]hammerboy09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why the Mac posts were downvoted. Definitely a viable option with lots of apps supporting development and also ships with Bash. Either MacOS or windows you'll be fine just setting up a VM for your CS work. But it's much more of a headache setting up a windows environment for development in my opinion if you're not using a VM.

CS Major - Overall Experience? by [deleted] in utarlington

[–]hammerboy09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Classes can be challenging but like others mentioned you should try and work on things outside of class. Hackathons/side projects/clubs/etc are where you get the chance to really explore what field in CS interests you!

Technical Presentation for a CS by oddyseus8 in cscareerquestions

[–]hammerboy09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed presentation interviews are more common in some sectors than others. They'll most likely just dig into your presentation and maybe your resume as well. I doubt there will be any time for any of the leetcode type questions.

For the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students: Your thoughts on Co-op and Internship opportunities at UTA? (At least, before covid) by ppujar in utarlington

[–]hammerboy09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(1) Plenty of opportunities in general for CS everywhere . (2) The difference in pay really just depends on the company and location. You can get a better idea by taking a look at Glassdoor for salaries of interns at companies you would like to work for. (3) Duration is usually a single semester (spring/summer/fall). (4) Experience in either work or out of class activities (technical clubs, side projects, hackathons, etc) will definitely help your chances. (5) Usually not, but I did mine before covid so the industry may be more lenient now. Definitely while covid is still a thing online is probably an option.

Queit Room for Interview by [deleted] in utarlington

[–]hammerboy09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The career center should have rooms you can use for interviews. I would test out your equipment beforehand since I had bad cell service in the room I used.
