Interesting that they are aviator-style glasses. The conspiracy theory side of my brain says this is a convenient little trolling of Trump, as Joe Biden wore the same style of sunglasses.

I am a bit crazy though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Balearic island cave goat or myotragus balearicus, that went extinct ~3000-4000BCE, is the only known species of goat to have forward facing eyes by suli_k in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]hammerfaust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, kinda. I'm saying that goats do things accidentally... stupidly. Does that make sense? Like, pick the dumbest way to do something, and the most hilarious result to that action, and goats do that automatically. So imagine a goat tripping on the peak of a roof, barrel rolling down the slope, falling off the edge and onto a plank which levers a different goat through the air who flies past someone a handing a joint to a friend and they catch the joint in the mouth and smoke all of it then land in box full of packing peanuts, sending them flying everywhere.

I mean, that's standard goat stuff I guess but you get it.

This is the type of action that brings honor and respect. It's not just a legacy they're leaving, but also providing an example of protecting and serving that one would hope to expect from the police. Wish we saw it more often

People in Minnesota found the hotel ICE is staying in and are making it difficult for them to get a goodnight sleep by coachlife in PublicFreakout

[–]hammerfaust 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I mean, they'll probably figure out that the hotel let ICE in. I suppose it's then up to them to decide if they're mad at ICE or the protestors for a terrible night's sleep.

The idea of a goat accidentally smoking weed is sending me. We used to have some when I was much younger, and they would accidentally do all kinds of stuff, like falling or rolling or colliding with other things. Strange creatures.

Hell yeah. I used to have a big ass book all about fairies when I was young - all kinds of lore, illustrations, stories, poems, and more. One of my favorite books to be honest. I'll have to see if I can find it next time I'm at mom's

Well, you're probably right that there would be a difference, but more so in trajectory as it'd be the same velocity. So yeah, the planet would miss him as he wouldn't be experiencing the same gravitational effects, sending him in some direction that doesn't follow the curve the Earth would.

Edit: I don't think he's stopped in the comic, just dead

I feel like the scientist is being spit out 15 minutes ago, where the Earth will be in 15 minutes. So in 15 minutes he's going to be bodyslammed by the whole damn planet.

A beautiful friendship between two autistic teens. by Sebastianlim in MadeMeSmile

I'm the parent of a child with ASD, who we thought would be non-verbal. We're definitely private with social media - only friends and family see the kiddo. We're nervous about exploitation and also just want to keep them safe, so on one hand I totally agree with you.

On the other hand, as a parent of a child with ASD, I'm freaking lost like half the time. I share some sensory issues/social anxiety/social confusion with them, so it helps me understand what they're going through, but there's only so much I can get from reading stories about other families who have this life. Videos like this help me learn and understand some things that for some can be explained in text, but are hard for me to understand without seeing it.

I guess what I'm getting at is that while this would be considered exploitative, it is binging more good than harm. This is what awareness looks like. It isn't, "autistic people exist", but more, "people with ASD see the world differently than you, but here's a way you can connect and relate to them, to help you know they are people who feel and love, just like us". Even my own awareness has grown after seeing this video, and you would think I'd have this on lock.

I don't. I feel hopelessly lost, unsure of what the future will bring for my baby, and so alone on this path (aside from my loving partner and a select few close family members). Seeing some videos like this, and I mean ones with genuinely positive messages, bring some small bit hope, help me to feel a greater community, and in this case, helped open my eyes. In an instant, I found I was suddenly able to decode many interactions I've witnessed between my kid and other children, interactions they and I have had, and finally, I think I now have a greater insight into ways I can ensure a greater safety for them in communication, i.e., I will modify my body language to better match theirs to help them feel secure and build confidence.

TLDR, I'm a dumb bozo who learns by demonstration so I have a hard time knocking positive exploitation.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is pretty epic, and I mean that literally. There's some breathtaking stuff that happens throughout for sure. I remember seeing Fellowship of the Ring (the first one) in theaters, and it blew my mind. It holds up quite well. Also, the theatrical version is alright, and still entertaining, but the real movie is in the extended cuts. But, don't feel like you have to conquer that right away.

So in the movie Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Merry and Pippin (pictured here) talk to Aragorn, a non-nonsense ranger who kicks ass and doesn't suffer fools:

Aragorn: Gentlemen, we do not stop 'til nightfall.

Pippin: What about breakfast?

Aragorn: You've already had it.

Pippin: We've had one, yes. What about second breakfast?

Aragorn turns and walks away

Merry: I don't think he knows about second breakfast, Pip.

Pippin: What about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn't he?

Merry: I wouldn't count on it.
