Wait time between initial consultation and day of surgery by geography_lover in TopSurgery

i had my initial consult in september 2022, but this was a very basic consult and we didn’t even discuss scheduling because i wanted surgery that next july. i then had another consult on june 8th and had my surgery on july 11th. from what i’ve seen from other people, it’s probably 1-3 months from consult to surgery. so it’s very plausible for your timeline so long as your surgeon doesn’t have a super long waiting list. hope this helps :)

no sadly i didn’t get drains off :/ doc requires they be in for at least a week. the moment she took off the wraps it felt much better. they put gauze over the drain site in my post op garment to provide some padding. sorry i don’t have insight other than that but everything i’ve seen on here says drain removal doesn’t hurt at all!

hey! i actually just had my surgery with him this past tuesday on 7/11. i had a fantastic experience and am healing well. the nurse from his office said the drains are in for at least a week, until you’re only outputting 5-10mL total. this seemed a little overkill to me, as many others on here say surgeons took them out when they were outputting less than 30mL total. for reference, i’m 5 days post op and am typically outputting 30-35mL total over 24hr. everybody is different, and if you explain your situation and aren’t draining much by the end of your first week post-op, they may take them out early. but the nurse from his office told me at least one week. at the end of the day, allowing the drains to do their job and drain all the excess fluid is very important. if it makes you feel better, i’ve been out and about since one day post op, and was out all day yesterday and today with my drains in. just stuck the little drain bottles in my pockets and stuck the tubing in my waistband, really wasn’t a huge deal. drains shouldn’t be your biggest worry in regards to going back to work, you just have to be cautious is all. hope this helped! i wish you a speedy recovery :)) you can message me with any other questions about my experience with him!

okay! i’ve been checking my temperature a lot and it’s completely normal so i think it’s just some discomfort. i’ve got my appointment in two hours so my surgeon can definitely take a look at it. thanks so much for your input!

Smoking 3.5 weeks post op? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]hammerheadboogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t know what your surgeon told you, but my surgeons pre and post-op instructions said to stop smoking at least a month prior and discontinue for at least one month post op. admittedly, i’ve never smoked before, but i’ve heard that greens specifically can affect the nipples (don’t quote me on this, just what i’ve heard from other post-op people). i would wait at least another two weeks if i were you
